Feminist activists are not deterred by the daunting statistics so much as they're fueled by them.
You Don't Speak for Me
When I graduated from University in the summer of 1999, my very middle-class roommate told me that now I had a University degree, I was no longer working class. I turned to her and said, "I will always be working class". At the same University, my older boyfriend told me that I should lose my Essex accent if I ever wanted to get a good job. On graduation, I was 23 years old and already 2 years behind my peers. Class is not straightforward to define in the UK. On household income alone, I earn less than £47,000 per annum, which was the average middle-class income in the UK in 2011. In the UK, a child is two-and-a-half times as likely to have a managerial job if their grandparents were of a higher class. On a personal level, it is about identity, community, ethics, beliefs, values, family background, education, access to healthcare, among other things.

Obviously, It's Not A Problem Because It's "Not All Men"
Sexual harassment is a type of harassment involving the use of explicit or implicit sexual overtones, including the unwelcome and inappropriate promise of rewards in exchange for sexual favors. Sexual harassment includes a range of actions from verbal transgressions to sexual abuse or assault. Sexual abuse, also referred to as molestation, is abusive sexual behavior by one person upon another. It is often perpetrated using force or by taking advantage of another. When force is immediate, of short duration, or infrequent, it is called sexual assault.

Dear Yeon-Mi Park
Dear Yeon-mi, Vocal have asked us to write about a letter to the strongest woman we know. There are many contenders for this, our aunts, mothers and sisters, teachers, celebrities and idols. In the end, I chose to write a letter to you. I have travelled to many countries around the world and a day trip in Busan and our tour guide openly discussed North Korea.

Shifting the Narrative on Sexual Violence
CW Sexual Violence, Sexual Harassment I remember sitting in my kitchen at the age of nine or ten, the evening news on in the background. One story involved the sexual assault of a young woman. The focus of the report was not the attack itself, but comments made in court by the defendant’s lawyer.

This could save your life. Top Story - March 2021.
I'm 27 as I write this, 19 when it happened. I composed this piece in an effort to help other women understand potential human trafficking tactics and/or potential kidnapping scenarios. I share this because while it happened nearly 10 years ago, it wasn't until this year (2021) that I realized the tremendous danger I could have found myself in had things ended differently.
