I Sparkled on My Own Terms . Top Story - December 2021.
It was my wedding reception. Let me put this into context for my non-Indian readers. An Indian wedding reception usually happens a day after the wedding. It is an occasion when all friends and family, primarily on the groom’s side, come laden with gifts and good wishes for the newlywed pair. In exchange, the guests have a delectable feast.

5 (Lesser Known) Tips For IUD Insertion
I was never comfortable with the idea of an implanted birth control option. I remember feeling my friend's Nexplanon implant and wanting to gag from the way it moved underneath her skin. Whenever I thought about an IUD (intrauterine device), I heard about all the horror stories of uterine perforation, or heavier, crampier periods (something I certainly didn't need).

Cold
TW: Rape, self-harm He can’t help but get on you in the middle of the night. He knows you’re not okay. He knows you can’t handle this right now. It’s nearly two o’clock in the morning though, and you’re sleeping peacefully beside him. Your nearly naked body is so close, so warm. You’re asleep on your stomach, and your long blonde hair is strewn across a pillow. He touches it; it’s soft and damp. The subtle scent of your conditioner wafts up to him. He wants you. Later, he rolls back over, and you know he’s pretending to be asleep. You get up and put on a t-shirt before going to the bathroom. You splash cold water on your face, clean yourself up. By the time you come back, his breathing is deep. His snoring starts back up. He’s asleep. You crawl back into bed and curl up into a tiny ball on the right side, shivering – only partly from the cold.

Bodies Are Just Bodies
A state of grace, acceptance and positivity, in regard to my body, has taken many years; in fact, most of my life. I have been a fat kid. Then a shy, much thinner teenager with low self-esteem and social anxiety. An exotic dancer, as a young adult in my early twenties. A victim of domestic violence and narcissistic relationships by late-twenties, which led to a stress-induced, borderline eating disorder. I became a single mother at age thirty-one. Then a yoga teacher at age thirty-nine. I have had my ups and downs with being comfortable in my body. So, I feel qualified to talk about this.

My Essence As Woman Is Freedom. Top Story - December 2021.
We live in a time of extractive patterns. Patterns where the dysfunctions of our relations, with other people and the planet, have become so normalized that we don't even remember what healthy even looks like. Patterns where we run towards what sparkles even faster than we run away from the pain behind us.

Are You Dating a Copper Miner?
You’ve all heard of gold diggers, but what about the copper miner? “Huh? What’s a copper miner?” Here’s the story. A while back, this woman I know met a guy. We'll call her "Jane" for anonymity's sake. So, Jane thought this guy seemed really great at first, checking every box she had for a potential partner. He was attractive, intelligent, funny, and seemed her equal in every way.

Fighting against Discrimination
My story starts off with a brief look at an unknown industry: taxis or vehicle for hire. Lately names like Uber and Lyft pop up in the media only to explain that the old fashion metered services are suffering from a loss of customers. While there is a good reason that a new app based on cell phone services rocketed the taxis into lower demands. Uber reflects the need of newer vehicles and safer drivers who can be monitored by corporate fat cats. Unfortunately, its just another vice against fair and equal rights that hits those on either side of the industry who are not inside the norm.

I Witnessed Sexual Harassment and Bullying at My First Ever Job
Three years ago, when I was still a high school student, I received my first ever job offer. I had been extremely anxious for the interview and spent all night rehearsing possible questions and answers with my mom, then spent a couple hours going through my carefully highlighted interview notes with a friend in the sushi restaurant next to the movie theater I had applied to. I paired a professional blouse with the fanciest skirt I could find, trying to assume an air of impenetrable confidence.
