How to Plan a Bali Itinerary

A Week-Long Guide for First-Time Visitors

By Roshelle FernandoPublished about a year ago 2 min read

An ideal vacation spot, Bali, often known as the "Island of the Gods," combines breathtaking natural beauty with an extensive cultural legacy. First-time tourists may find it difficult to plan a week-long itinerary, but you can see the most that Bali has to offer by combining adventure, leisure, and cultural immersion. Through a day-by-day plan that makes the most of your time, you surely can make your first Bali trip the best one ever!

Day 01- have a slow start

When you arrive at Denpasar's Ngurah Rai International Airport on your first day in Bali, make arrangements for a transfer to Seminyak, a bustling neighbourhood well-known for its hip beach clubs, boutiques, and restaurants. Start your vacation in a laid-back manner by spending the evening gazing at the sunset from your villa or boutique hotel.

After that, wander through the bustling streets at your leisure, explore the boutiques, and conclude the evening with supper at a good restaurant. The days ahead are going to be so hectic, so make sure you give your body some rest on the very first day in Bali.

Day 02- explore the beautiful Ubud

The cultural centre of Bali, Ubud, is a 1.5-hour picturesque drive away from Seminyak on Day 2. In Ubud Bali, things to do are diverse. You may visit the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary first thing in the morning to see happy monkeys running around in a verdant jungle. Visit Ubud Palace in the afternoon to become fully immersed in the city's royal past. Ubud Palace is a typical Balinese home that is both a cultural icon and an amazing architectural achievement. Take a traditional Balinese cooking class as the evening activity where you will learn a lot about the Balinese cooking culture.

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort is a great place for you to spend your night in Ubud. Make sure you book your stay much in advance to avoid any last-minute hassles.

Day 03- Use this day to admire the environment

Visit the Tegallalang Rice Terraces first thing on Day 3; the breathtaking vistas of the iconic rice fields will enthral you. While there, make the most of the exhilarating Bali Swing, which provides great views above the terraces. Then, visit the holy Tirta Empul Temple in the afternoon to become fully immersed in Balinese spirituality. When the evening comes, visit Tegenungan Waterfall and have a revitalising swim in its naturally formed pools, which are surrounded by thick vegetation.

Day 04- The East Bali

Start your trip in East Bali on Day 4 by going to Tirta Gangga, a stunning water palace noted for its serene ponds, elaborate statues, and verdant gardens. Also go to the magnificent Lempuyang Temple, which is known for the iconic "Gates of Heaven." Here, you may get amazing pictures of Mount Agung surrounded by the beautiful architecture of the temple.  After that, take advantage of Amed's pristine waters for snorkelling, which are well-known for their colourful coral reefs and abundant marine life. By nightfall, you can decide whether to spend the night in Amed or return to Seminyak or Ubud, based on your plans for the next day.

Day 05- the beach day

Travel to Nusa Dua and spend the day relaxing on opulent beaches. Unwind on the silky sands and take in the serene, clear waters. Don't schedule so many activities for this day- as it's all yours! Make sure you use this day to relax your mind and soul.

Day 06 and Day 07- Saying bye to Bali

Since these are the final days in Bali, make sure you do some shopping too. If time permits, you may say yes to a yoga session or a Balinese spa treatment for an unforgettable experience. Do not forget to make the maximum use of your time here, and delight your taste buds with the ever-loved Balinese dishes.
