Players to Watch

Brittney Smith

After two very solid and consistent seasons, this is the year where Brittney Smith is expected to breakout as a college basketball star. She shot a career best .529 from the field last season while averaging 9.2 points per game. Her greatest night came against Cincinnati on 25 points while shooting 10-13. She also had 12 rebounds that night. Smith hit at least 50 percent of her shots in 14 of the 21 games she played last season. In seven of those contests she made 60 percent of her shots or more. In 2019-20 she had two games with at least 20 points as well. Smith was named to the American Athletic Conference Third Team for the second straight season in 2020-21.

Alisha Lewis

After transferring from Syracuse, Alisha Lewis shined for UCF being named Newcomer of the Year and Sixth Player of the Year for the American Athletic Conference. She scored over 20 points twice last season, draining a season best six three-pointers in both games. The guard made at least two threes in 10 games last season. She did the same on the defensive side collecting two or more steals 10 times as well. In a blowout 24-point home win over Temple, Lewis dished out a season best eight assists. She averaged 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and shot .449 from three. Lewis also shot an impressive .846 from the charity stripe.

Diamond Battles

A fiery competitor, Diamond Battles saved her best basketball for the end of the season. The sparky guard made 50 percent of her shots over the last five games of the season and averaged 12.4 points over that stretch. For the whole season she averaged 10 points on just .363 shooting, but Battles showed that during the post season tournaments that she can kick her offense to a higher gear. Along with scoring Battles had a 10-rebound effort in a road win against LSU. She also dished out seven assists twice and collected five steals on four occasions.

Masseny Kaba

Like Battles, Masseny Kaba turned it up for UCF during the post season tournaments. She averaged 14.3 points the final three games of the year. Kaba tallied two double-doubles, grabbing a season best 13 rebounds in both contests. She averaged nine points and 6.3 rebounds per game for the year.
