Trios from Ole Miss, Tennessee & Villanova

The bracket for the women's edition of the NCAA Tournament were released Sunday. Here is a look at some of our favorite match-ups.

23-8 Ole Miss & 27-5 South Dakota will face off in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss is led by 6-5 senior center Shakira Austin who averages 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds and two blocked shots per game. Her teammate Mimi Reid leads the team at 3.5 assists per game over the past seven games she has tallied 30 assists and just seven turnovers. Senior guard Angel Baker is second on the team in scoring at 10.7 points per game. She averaged 17.5 points in two games during the SEC Tournament.

South Dakota is on a nine-game win streak. Led by the three-headed scoring monster of Chloe Lamb, Hannah Sjerven and Liv Korngable. Lamb, a senior guard, leads the team at 15.9 points and 1.6 steals per contest. Sjerven, a 6-2 senior center, paces the team with 7.8 rebounds per game and 1.8 blocked shots while averaging 14.8 points. Korngable averages 12.8 points and a team best 3.7 assists while also leading the team by shooting 40.8 percent from three.

Both teams are in the Wichita Region as Ole Miss is the seventh seed, while South Dakota is 10th. The winner will face the victor between two seed Baylor and 15 seed Hawaii.

23-8 Tennessee takes on 25-8 Buffalo in the Wichita Region in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, March 19.

Fourth seed Tennessee is paced by the defense of Tamari Key who was named the Defensive Player of the Year by Winners Only. The 6-6 junior center leads the team with 3.7 blocked shots to go along with 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Jordan Horston is the squad's top scorer at 16.2 points per game. She also leads Tennessee in rebounds, assists and steals per game with averages of 9.4 boards, f0ur dimes and 1.4 thefts. Senior guard Rae Burrell is also a threat for the Lady Vols. She averages 11.8 points in the 19 games she has played. Burrell averaged 18.5 points in two games during the SEC Tournament.

Buffalo is a 13 seed and is on a nine-game win streak as high scoring junior guard Dyaisha Fair will get the opportunity to display her talent on a national stage. The 5-5 senior averages 23.4 points per game, which is fourth in the NCAA along with 4.3 assists. Guard Summer Hemphill is one of the top rebounders in the nation pulling down 10.4 boards per game, while averaging 13.1 points and 1.3 blocked shots. Freshman guard Georgia Woolley will provide another scoring option for Buffalo as she averages 14.6 points in 33 contests.

The winner of Buffalo vs Tennessee will face the winner of fifth seed Oregon and 12th seed Belmont.

Sixth seeded BYU and 11th seed Villanova will do battle in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in the Wichita Region. BYU enters the contest at 26-3, led by efficient guard Shaylee Gonzales. She leads the team at 18.7 points on 50.5 percent shooting, both career bests. Guard Paisley Harding is also a potent scorer pouring in 17 points per game, while shooting career bests 45 percent and 83 percent from the free-throw line. Sophomore forward Lauren Gustin is 11th in the nation with 11.5 boards per game. She also averages 10.8 points while shooting 50.7 percent from the field.

23-8 Villanova is guided by the Winners Only National Player of the Year Maddy Siegrist. The junior forward is second in the NCAA at 25.9 points per game, while being a consistent double-double threat with an average of 9.5 rebounds per game. Forward Brianna Herlihy leads the team with 3.2 assists per game as well as 10.9 points and 8.2 rebounds. She and Lior Garzon will provide scoring help to Siegrist. Garzon is a sophomore forward who is averaging career highs of 13.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.

The winner of BYU and Villanova will take on the winning team between third seed Michigan and 14th seeded American.
