Not Even Rookie Jones could stop the Dolphins
In an intriguing and close affair, the Miami Dolphins defeated the New England Patriots 17-16 at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on week one of the NFL. The Dolphins have now won three of their past four games on the road. They also increased their winning streak against Bill Belichick’s side to two, consecutively beating the Patriots for the first time since 2013/14. This also marks the first time the Dolphins have won two out of three at the Gillette Stadium since managing back-to-back away wins against the Patriots in 1999-2000. The Dolphins now lead the overall head-to-head standings between the two teams 57-54. Not great reading if you’re a Patriot fan.

Fans view of NFL Week 1
As has become a modern tradition, if there is such a thing, the season started with a Thursday night game involving the reigning champions. Tampa Bay hosted Dallas and were expected to get their title defence of to a winning start. It is easy to see why the Buccaneers are one of the favourites for the title this year, they became the first team in a long time to be able to keep hold of all twenty-two starters that won the Superbowl for them. Personnel wise they almost have the look of one of those star studded teams in San Francisco or Dallas in the early nineties, the days before the salary cap. Brady has three exceptional wide receivers to throw to in Evans, Brown and Goodwin, along with maybe the best tight end ever in his good friend Gronkowski, in the backfield they have an elite level running back in Fournette. Defensively they are almost as loaded with star players and importantly both lines are exceptional.

Draft day in NFL Fantasy
I have been following the NFL from England since it was first shown over here. The Superbowl at the end of this upcoming season will be my fortieth Superbowl. I have decided to chronicle my following of this season by way of written articles. Some will be weekly updates on how the season is going, others will be my thoughts on the Sport and there will be some stories ‘from the ’vault’ as well as I relive past seasons and write about some of my favourite players, teams, coaches and stories from the NFL. This article is about my experience of drafting my NFL Fantasy team.

What is Sports Performance?
Not to brag but... Legendary Duke Basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski is retiring. The class of 2021 will be the last group of young men he will recruit as a head coach. It will be a special event and quite the memorable ride that I will have a special interest in. That’s because the last athlete that Coach K signed is one of my athletes. It’s a humbling thought that I could contribute to an amazing family and help an athlete maximize their potential, but that’s not the story here. The story here is how an athlete was brought to me before their 8th grade season for performance training and how easily it could’ve gone wrong.

The Drive
“This drive is going to be talked about [by Ravens fans] for a long long time.” Color commentator, Cris Collingsworth uttered these words minutes after wide receiver Torrey Smith hauled in a 26-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Flacco. The Baltimore Ravens would hold on to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20. Leading to the Ravens' first season sweep of the Steelers, and eventually, their first AFC North title in five years.

A famous saying by a former football coach
Even though I did not see any football games on television in the former Canal Zone in Panama until around 1972, I will come to admit that I never heard of the late George S. Halas who was nicknamed Papa Bear since he was the former football coach of the Chicago Bears/Decatur Staleys of the National Football League (NFL) since my interest in watching both the NFL and college football on the Southern Command Network (SCN) was not on my top priority list at the time.

How mental is the game of football? Some may think that you have to be in physical peak shape which is correct. But also maintain healthy dieting and building your body just to be torn apart over the course of now eighteen weeks. But I want to talk about the mental aspect of the game and my prime example will be the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs match up over the past four years including the upcoming game this year. In their first meeting Baltimore was the visiting team at Arrowhead Stadium in 2018, Heisman winning quarterback and MVP Lamar Jackson rookie year and with only a few starts under his belt. On the other side is Patrick Mahomes an generational talent at the quarterback position, former MVP, and super bowl champion. KC pulled out a tight victory due to some hero’s plays from Mahomes and Tyreek Hill, edging a 27-24 win. The next year it was a 33-28 win for Kansas City, Baltimore started off aggressive with the run game but steered away from the gameplan and quickly fell behind to only claw their way back in the game but still came up short and 2020 was the exact same, losing 34-20 in Baltimore.
