NFL Week 4 Recap: The Debate is Over

Lamar Jackson leads a totally dominant beatdown of the Buffalo Bills on primetime

By Clyde E. DawkinsPublished about a year ago 5 min read

Lamar Jackson is leagues ahead of Josh Allen. Accept it.

The main reason why I was excited for the Sunday Night Football contest between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills was because it was Lamar vs Josh Allen. These are two QBs who play the same way: they run it as much as they throw it. Here's the thing. When Josh Allen does it, he's a "great quarterback." But when Lamar does it, "he's a runningback, not a quarterback." We all know why they say that about Lamar. It's because he just happens to look like me, if you know what I mean.

That's all that's been said by racist fans, especially racist Bills fans. Josh Allen, despite his many playoff failures (especially against the Chiefs), can do no wrong. It's always someone else's fault. Lamar Jackson, despite spending his whole career having to carry the entire Ravens franchise on his back, can do no right. Never mind the fact that he represented 90% of Baltimore's offense, any and all losses are his fault and his alone.

Well, folks, the debate is over. Hell, there never should have been one. The Ravens blasted the Bills, 35-10. It was a game that saw Josh Allen play so badly, while Lamar dominated and was mistake-free. The Ravens won their second straight game, while the Bills were handed their first loss of the season.

Jordan Love returned to play in the Green Bay Packers' big game against the Minnesota Vikings. That was one of two big headlines from this game; the other being Aaron Jones' first game in Lambeau as an opponent. This game was a disaster, at first for the Packers. We were down 28-0. It was thanks to a muffed punt that the score was 28-7 at halftime. The second half saw the Pack turn it up to 100. Love's passes were connecting. We got a key interception. We had it down to one score. Unfortunately, Minnesota made a late field goal (something that's foreign to us lately), but we did score to make it a two point game. Sadly, that's where it ended. The onside kick failed, and the Packers lost 31-29 in a game where we were down by 28.

The week began with the Dallas Cowboys barely surviving the New York Giants on Thursday Night Football, but at least the Cowboys survived. The same can't be said about the Philadelphia Eagles in Tampa Bay. I swear, it's like the NFC Wild Card Playoff never ended. It's somehow worse than that. What in the hell is wrong with Jalen Hurts? For the second straight week, I'm considering trading him on Fantasy. He had less fantasy points than Younghoe Koo, whose 58-yard FG won it for the Atlanta Falcons against the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles do have some extra time to fix things: they have a bye coming up.

Aaron Rodgers needs to have a long time with his buddy Nathaniel Hackett. Not one touchdown was scored against the Denver Broncos. They lost a Broncos team whose QB had -7 passing yards early in the game. Elsewhere, another veteran QB made waves, as Joe Flacco had to step in for the injured Anthony Richardson and lead the Indianapolis Colts to a 27-24 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. As for Andy Dalton, he could not make it two in a row as QB of the Carolina Panthers, as he was defeated by his longtime former team, the Cincinnati Bengals.

The early window saw budding young QBs Caleb Williams and C.J. Stroud lead their teams to victory, while the late window was centered by Jayden Daniels, who led the Washington Commanders to a 42-14 blow out victory over the Arizona Cardinals. The Commanders look like they are the real deal; this is their first season with Dan Quinn as their head coach, and Daniels has been kicking ass for Washington for the last three weeks. At 3-1, the Commanders are among the top of the NFC standings, and could actually win the NFC East for the first time since 2020.

The Las Vegas Raiders handed the Cleveland Browns another crippling loss, and as for the San Francisco 49ers, well, they owned the New England Patriots, and even received two key pieces back in the form of Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. However, the win came just a day or two after they received some damning news regarding Christian McCaffrey. Achillies tendinitis in both legs. He may as well be done for the entire season. The Niners managed to win, but they won't be playing against the Patriots every week.

Jared Goff had quite a Monday; not one incompletion, and three total touchdowns--one them receiving. The Detroit Lions picked up a statement win over the Seattle Seahawks as a result of Goff's amazing game, and that game ended right after another Monday contest between the Tennessee Titans and the Miami Dolphins. Let me just say this: Tua Tagovailoa is owed an apology. Everybody says that Tua is a lousy QB. Have you seen the Dolphins without Tua? It's a shitshow. Back to back games of tepid football from the Dolphins. The Titans eased their way to the first win of the season.

Therefore, as a result of everything that occurred, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings are the only unbeaten teams standing. I'm dead serious, who had the Vikings---the Vikings--as the NFC's last unbeaten team. I was excited because I thought I'd see the Vikings fall off. Oh boy. And here's the thing: the Vikings are the better of the two teams.

Also, with the Tennessee Titans' victory, the Jacksonville Jaguars are the only winless team in the league. Who had that happening? The Jags are falling off big time. This is coming just two years after their miracle division title. Everything is absolutely off. Fans want Doug Pederson fired. Those same fans are wondering why GM Trent Baalke is still employed. It is a mess. 0-3 is the NFL's kiss of death. 0-4? History says that the Jags can forget it.

Week 5 begins with an NFC South contest between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. We'll see the first London game of the season between the New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings, and Sunday Night Football will see the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers clash. On Monday Night Football, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the New Orleans Saints. This week sees the first byes handed out, and it will be the Lions, Eagles, Titans, and Chargers taking that siesta.
