Dion Waiters and the Rebirth of Trash Talking
Many sportswriters and NBA connoisseurs believe we are in the golden age of athletic ability in the league. We do see more freaks than actual humans in the league. Triple-doubles are becoming a gamely occurrence, while poster dunks may not even make it on to basketball cards anymore. That’s all fine and well, but the NBA is still not the same.

Nashville’s Stanley Cup Craze
As the Nashville Predators have tied the Stanley Cup Final series at 2–2 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the city of Nashville gets more and more into the sport of hockey. Hockey has been a big thing in Nashville in the past couple of years, but now with the hometown team in the biggest stage of the sport, it’s getting even wilder. I drove up to Nashville for game three and lucked out with getting a ticket the day before the game.

With Clayton Kershaw Out, Justin Verlander Could Be the Answer for the Dodgers
The LA Dodgers have been on fire this season. They currently boast the best record in all of baseball at 71 and 31, an astounding 40 games over .500. This past week their starting pitching took a hit though when ace of the staff and arguably the best pitcher in baseball, Clayton Kershaw, went on the shelf for 4 to 6 weeks with a back strain. Just a short time before that, they also lost Brandon McCarthy to the disabled list.

Heartbreak for any baseball team is tough. For years, it has been the Cubs’ heartbreak that has been glamorized and somewhat sought after by north siders. It’s weird, holding onto and being fond of that “lovable losers” title. Unless you are a Mariners fan — especially in the Jerry Dipoto era. All the Mariners have known is heartbreak. The MLB Players Weekend Uniforms are Great and Eh, Ugly
MLB Players Weekend will be August 25–27, and the teams will be repping bright and potent colors as their teams take the field that weekend. The MLB is channeling some kid’s mind on MLB The Show 17 on his online franchise customizing his made-up team with the brightest and most annoyingly, terribly designed uniforms. Some of these Players Weekend unis should be used as alternates, and some look like a guy played on photoshop for the first time for all of three minutes. Seemingly, NBA free agency has cooled down. All of the major moves have been made with Chris Paul, Paul George, Gordon Hayward and others heading to new teams in pursuit of winning a championship/beating the Warriors/making that money. Even with free agency shifting from Paul and George to Monta Ellis and Nick Young, NBA free agency fervor rages on.

A New Sport and a New Love
The Nashville Predators have taken this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs by storm, which means there are going to be bandwagon fans that take some heat for being obvious bandwagon fans. Include me in that group. I grew up in Huntsville, Alabama — which is about two hours from Nashville. Hockey is a strangely popular sport in Huntsville, and my high school won something along the lines of five state championships in six years. Hockey is sort of relevant in Huntsville, but I never caught on until about a year ago.

Why ESPN Is Failing. Top Story - September 2017.
10,000 — the amount of subscribers ESPN loses on average per day. That alarming number seems to be taking its toll on the ‘Worldwide Leader in Sports.’ Want to know just how big this toll is? ESPN laid off almost all of their hockey staff, during the middle of the NHL playoffs. They also laid off some of their best reporters: Brett McMurphy, Jeremy Crabtree, Max Olson, and Ed Werder, to name a few.
