Track & Field 2k22: MACtion
The Mid-American Conference indoor meet took place Feb. 25-26, at Kent State. One of the more exciting stories of the season was the chase for the gold in the 60-meter hurdles. Kent State's Mi'Angel Daniels, Eastern Michigan's Alysse Wade (2020 champion) and Northern Illinois' Scout Regular (2021 runner-up) were three favorites in this year's field. The race also included last season's champion Jaqueline Pokuaah of Akron, who also posed a threat.

WB2K22: Weekly Honors
Feb. 20 -26 Ayana Emmanuel - Alabama State This 5-9 senior guard has been on fire for Alabama State. Two weeks ago Ayana Emmanuel scored 71 points in three games. She followed that last week with 77 points in two games. In an 83-69 win against Bethune Cookman, Feb. 21 she posted 41 points on 11-15 shooting from the field. She also made 17 of her 2o free-throws in that contest where she collected four steals as well. Emmanuel's second game was a 76-68 loss to Alabama A&M, Feb. 26, but she still performed effectively. She hit all nine of her free-throws and shot 11-18 from the field, including 5-7 from three on her way to 36 points.

Lady Hammers Finish Amazing Season with a Loss in US Youth Soccer Eastern Regional Finals
Somers FC 13U Girls Soccer just completed their season with a 21-1-6 overall record, and the sole loss was to the New England Surf in the finals of the US Youth Soccer Eastern Regionals. Unable to hold a 2-1 halftime lead, the Lady Hammers fell 5-2 in the Championship game. But better than any trophy, their coach revels in both the growth he’s seen in the last five years, and a cohesion that goes beyond the field.

Somers Arsenal Reaches Semifinals of US Club Soccer National Championship
The town of Somers couldn’t have asked for much more in the success that the FC 13U Girls Soccer team had in falling just short of the US Youth Soccer Nationals. But the fair sex having their say, the FC Somers Arsenal Boys (u17) weren’t quite done talking for the town, and a one goal first half deficit versus Eclipse Select Academy in the semifinals had the team in reach of a national championship.
