National Player of the Year
Maddy Siegrist, Villanova
Maddy Siegrist is a junior forward that averaged a career best 26.5 points after her first 22 games of the season. She also shot career highs of 50 percent from the field, 37 percent from three and 83.7 percent from the free-throw line. Villanova was 21-7 overall and 15-4 which was second in the Big East as Siegrist was the star of the show. She scored over 30 points nine times this season, including a 42-point effort against Marquette. Siegrist also averaged 9.7 rebounds per game.
Defensive Player of the Year
Tamari Key, Tennessee
Tennessee was 22-7 and 11-5 (third in the SEC) as 6-6 junior center Tamari Key made it very difficult for the opposition to score by the basket. Her 3.7 blocks per game are second in the NCAA as she blocked 10 shots in a contest three times this season. Key recorded her second career triple-double when she had 18 rebounds, 10 blocks and 10 points in a win against Texas. She became the first ever Lady Vol to collect more than one triple double as she had her first during the 2020-21 season.
Freshman of the Year
Aneesah Morrow, DePaul
Aneesah Morrow was a serious threat to win all three of our individual post season awards. She did it all for 22-9 DePaul leading the team in scoring (21.4), rebounds (14.0), steals (2.6) and blocked shots (1.8). Also the NCAA's top rebounder, the 6-1 forward had a season best 27 rebounds in a win over Seton Hall, while scoring 22 points in that game. Her top scoring performance was when she scored 41 points while pulling down 18 rebounds in a victory over Creighton.
