JoJo Degl Helps Bring Home Gaelic football Championship
Photo by Sophia Degl In 2022, JoJo Degl celebrated a section one lacrosse championship, and crossing the Hudson to defeat Somers was no bother. However, it wasn’t the only body of water she traversed this year, and making the New York Gaelic football team, she traveled to Dublin for the John West Feile Championships. An amazing accomplishment for each of the 24 girls, the New Yorkers were probably happy just to compete in Ireland’s game, and once all was said and done, the team followed suit by simply going to McDonald’s. Still, the Irish on hand were taken aback and not just because of the New York jerseys.

Part I: My Five Most Memorable New York Sports Minutes
Photo by Peter Roan Here’s part one of My Five Most Memorable New York Sports Minutes. Like it’s evil stepsister, my cherished moments came when I was younger, and for me, winning the title has always been anti-climatic to actually getting there. This is number one.

Is The 49ers Season Bungled or Salvaged?
The 49ers have been saying that Jimmy G was done all off-season and that it was Trey Lance's team. Jimmy G gave a farewell speech after their NFC Conference Championship loss. The only problem with this message is that Jimmy G is still a 49er. First, trade talks slowed because Jimmy had surgery on his throwing shoulder without telling the team. Then the team sectioned Jimmy off, and he wasn't in team meetings or practices. The story then became that the 49ers were allowing Jimmy to seek a trade, and he just needed to pass his physical. The 49ers also heavily inferred that if a trade wasn't reached, Jimmy would be cut at the end of August before the final roster selection, voiding Jimmy G's 20 + million dollar contract.

NOT the Ultimate Guide to Recurve Archery Equipment 3
Stabilization No Golden Rules There are tons of choices in stabilizers and dampers in the market. There is no simple answer to which model is better nor a golden rule in choosing the correct length. Whether the stabilization equipment works well depends heavily on the interaction with the choice of other pieces of equipment and the set-up.

The Choir Huddle: A Simple Way to Improve Understanding in the Communications Process
Introduction: The “Choir Huddle” Len Dawson, the Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback who led the Kansas City Chiefs to victory in Super Bowl IV and was the Most Valuable Player of that game in 1970, passed away this past week at the age of 87. As always happens in our society, people who were legends in their time are given a final “15 minutes of fame” when they die. And so this week has been filled with many tributes to Dawson, who not only had a stellar career with the Chiefs on the field, but was synonymous with the team as he broadcast the team’s games for over three decades after he retired from playing. He was perhaps most known nationally to a new generation of football fans for his work over many years on HBO’s pro football show, “Inside the NFL.”

UFC Atomweights?
Earlier on this year I published an article discussing the Women's Featherweight Division in the UFC. Unfortunately this division, without question is the weakest division in the whole UFC. They don't even have an official top 10 ranking. Amanda Nunes is the Women's 145lb champ and that's it. As it stands even with the prospect of Kayla Harrison making her way to the UFC for a "super-fight" with Amanda Nunes. That's really all we have to look forward to regarding that division. Unless of course out of nowhere Dana fines an absolute monster of a woman with a following that rivals Conor McGregor. Which let's be real, what are the odds of that happening? I still have faith the division can grow given enough time and love, but while we wait on that. If we can't go heavier, let's see what would happen if we went lighter for the 5th UFC women's weight class.

Hate the Red Sox? This Yankee Fan Doesn’t Understand
Photo by Jennifer Boyer I began watching baseball in 1973 and simply followed my lineage in adopting the Yankees as my team at the age of nine. Flirting with first place briefly that year, three Bobby Murcer home runs deposited not far from where I was seated was the extent of it. However, I didn’t take kindly to the Baltimore Orioles taking the division that year. 1974 officially introduced me to the Yankees-Red Sox, and I was on the hate train with everyone else. But down the road, I have never been able to understand the disdain Yankee fans have for their rival to the north.

NOT the Ultimate Guide to Recurve Archery Equipment 2
Bowstring Bowstring is a very important piece of equipment. It affects consistency, bow feedback to the archer, and arrow speed etc. Working on the bowstring can be the easiest way to tune the bow, to a limited extend, and make the arrow spine matching the draw weight without altering the limbs or changing to another set of arrows. Bowstrings are consumable. Regular maintenance by waxing is required for most bowstrings. There are many references available online e.g. How to wax a bowstring and there is no point for me to repeat it here. It is time to consider changing to a new bowstring if you find the string frayed or the color is fading. You should act immediately if you see any strand broken. I would not consider it too frequent for leisure archers to change the bowstring annually. For archers having high training volume, it is reasonable to change strings every few months or even in a shorter period of time.

Double champ is back
I'm a little late but sue me. I still have to work my day job so I'm not writing as much as I would like but I'm working on that I promise. Anyways, Amanda Nunes is back, that fight was a freaking war! Wow, that fight definitely lived up to the hype and certainly earned the UFC way more fans. I have to give it up to both Pena and Nunes. I didn't really mind who won the rematch, the narratives both ways were great. But it is amazing to literally watch history be made, as Amanda said in her post fight interview she's the only double champ to regain her double champ status after losing one of her belts.
