"How can I increase my income?" It's a question that many of us ask ourselves, especially in this period of rising prices on all fronts and high inflation. Unlike cutting expenses, which can only be done up to a certain point (you still have to eat and have a place to sleep), the possibility of increasing income is practically unlimited.

If you've decided to increase your income, but don't know where to start, this article is for you! In the first part we talk about what questions to ask yourself, and in the second part we give you concrete ideas to earn better, coming directly from the members of the Banometer Community, whom we thank for sharing.

How can you earn more money?

Whether you're an employee, entrepreneur, or freelancer, the money you earn is what you get in exchange for the value you provide to other people through your work. So, if you want to increase your income in the long term, you need to figure out how you can bring more value through your work.

To do this, it is important:

To better understand the needs/desires of the people you work with, so that you can make a meaningful contribution.

To know your skills and their value, develop them or learn new ones.

Clients' needs may be, for example, to benefit from a complete package of services for events (sound, in addition to photo-video), a shorter delivery time or quality, SEO-optimized articles. To be able to deliver these elements, you may need to take an SEO course or have a better time and task management system.

You can increase your income in the long term, but also in the short term, through specific activities or collaborations, especially if you have a bold saving goal or are going through a more difficult period and need money urgently (your salary has been reduced or even lost your job).

What do you think of when you hear about income growth? Take some time to reflect and see what emotions you associate with the idea of having more money. Does it occur to you that you don't deserve it or that you can't, that it's bad to want to earn more ("Money is the devil's eye")? Identify any limiting beliefs. In the free financial coaching sessions that we offer at Banometer, you can address this topic with the coach, to acquire a mindset based on growth, instead of a fixed one.

How much do you currently earn?

Start from your current situation and calculate how much you earn per working hour in your life by dividing your net income by the number of hours worked. See video 1 of the Banometer online course for more details (you need to log in or create one to access the course - everything is free).

What does more money mean to you? Many people say they want more money, but they don't know exactly how much. To find out, imagine your ideal life. What would a day of it look like? What do you see yourself doing? What are the costs of things and experiences in this context? What would bring you more income, in addition to now?

WHY do you want to earn more?

The way you dream of your ideal life is the result of the influence of those around you (friends who work in corporations, freelancers, etc.), does it reflect a fashion (being a digital nomad, "your own boss") or is it your wishes? In motivating the desire to increase income, there can be several traps, for example: you omit the need to change yourself, to do something different, you underestimate yourself, you overestimate yourself, you have unrealistic expectations (positive or negative), you you set unrealistic or irrelevant goals for yourself, you don't know where you're starting from and where you want to go.

What are the reasons why you are not making as much money as you would like right now? Make a list and be as objective and detached as possible. Look at the answers honestly and see what you can learn from them and if you find some solutions.

What are your limits?

Be realistic. Don't blindly make a change just because you've reached a breaking point (dissatisfaction at work, an overly authoritarian boss), but first know yourself and make a plan. Explore alternatives. Test whether the professional role you aspire to would suit you, make sure you have an emergency and safety fund before you resign.

Concrete ideas for increasing income

Next, we present you some ideas that the members of the Banometer Community have successfully applied to earn more money. Depending on your lifestyle, some solutions may not suit you, but we hope they inspire you to find a way to increase your income that you like and remind you that every time there are at least 3 solutions to overcome a challenge.

The sites mentioned below are recommendations received from Community members and are based solely on their experience and opinion. As always, we encourage you to carefully inform yourself about the projects/collaborations you enter into.

Selling old things from the house or those that are no longer used. Many people buy second-hand, so you can capitalize on things that are now gathering dust. Of course, you can also sell new things, such as gifts that don't fit you or items you bought on impulse. Where can you sell? Online or in your group of friends, colleagues and acquaintances. For example, one community member held a mini clothes fair at her home with friends who invited other friends.

Renting a bike from a Glovo worker.

  1. Participation in paid surveys. Earnings aren't huge, from what community members have told us, but they can help a tight budget. Some companies pay in euros, others in lei, others in points that can be exchanged for money or products. Examples of sites where you can find such activities: Sense Panels, Mobrog, AttaPoll or Daedalus.

Mystery shopping/ Mysterious customer. The mystery customer goes to a store, restaurant or other locations (banks, car dealerships, medical clinics, decoration stores, etc.) and plays the role of a real customer, based on a given script. He reviews service quality, vendor performance and other requested items, then completes an online survey with observations from the visit. For example, a restaurant may require that the rater and attendant order different main courses, or that the order include at least one brewed drink, etc. The schedule is flexible and the payment differs for each project. A site where you can sign up to be a mystery shopper: Phantom Shopping.

Buying premium products and selling them after a period of time when their market price has increased. A community member bought premium, quality toys for her child, and after 2 years of (careful) use, she checked online what they cost at that time. He sold them to specialist groups at lower than market prices, but higher than what he had bought them at, so he made a profit.

Offering consulting services (financial, life coaching, business coaching, marketing, graphic design, branding), in addition to the main job.

Insurance broker. You can take out RCA, health, life, home insurance or book holidays for clients.

Filming of events. If you have a drone in addition to your camera and know how to use it, you can use it in this context.

Courier services. By bike, car or scooter, you can deliver food or other products. Courier services have become increasingly popular, and their main advantage is their flexible schedule. Glovo is a company you can work with to work as a courier.

Bartending at events. If the field of hospitality appeals to you, you can earn extra money by preparing drinks at various events.

Affiliate marketing/earning a sales commission for certain products or services.

Remember you DESERVE and CAN make more money. It's important to be aware that there are many ways to earn extra income, explore them to find what suits you, and act with a realistic plan behind you. At Banometru we are with you on this road, with support and personalized recommendations.
