All is beginning, yes, I have finally been investing for a solid 3 months thanks to the Robinhood App. Let me tell you, it is easier than I thought it would be! I have since grown my portfolio and now hold shares in Spirit Air, Smile Direct Club, Organigram, NRZ investment and Invesco Mortgage Capital. While not much it is a start! Let me briefly run you, the reader through my portfolio so you can get a better understanding and perhaps spark an interest to read my future blog posts here on Vocal.
Firstly, I began investing in late January of this year. I find this to be a blessing, not because I started later than I had wished, but because I started before an economic downturn due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, in the times before markets began collapsing, I was able to make some purchases and enter the market before most of my stocks lost value. Some of these stocks included: Atlas Air Worldwide, Inovio Pharmaceuticals, and Aurora Cannabis. However, the pandemic has also been a blessing in the stock market. Why so you might be asking. Well, because of the economic effects from the pandemic, when the markets dropped, so did the stock prices. I, being a college student, with not much spare income to invest, saw this with great joy. I was able to pick up several more investments that have now turned to be profitable on the backside of this market drop. Some of these include: Smile Direct Club, New Residential Investment, and Invesco Mortgage.
Now, not all of them have grown to become positive return for me as of now. However, their futures look superb. What do I mean by the futures? Well, the volume and the history of the stock price as well as the industries my shares are in show high potential in the future. Real estate, investment, and soon again, travel. Not only do the shares themselves show great potential for a return in the future, but these stocks are also yielding me high dividends. Which is also a very nice bonus of being a shareholder in these companies. As of now, the two highest paying dividend shares I hold are New Residential Investment (NRZ) at a rate of 19.4% and Invesco Mortgage Capital (IVR) at a rate of 41.3%. Now, these high dividend rates do not last forever. Companies do this when their share prices fall to attract investors. Needless to say, it attracted me to buy shares in them. However, I did do my research with this and found that the stocks will indeed bounce back once the capital market improves and the real estate industry bounces back after the pandemic.
Finally, in the future I will be writing more posts about my investments. However, it will not be limited to investments, it will also pair hand in hand here on Vocal with my YouTube channel and what goes on there. My YouTube can be found at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCamc79h-FFdYlhDR6eSwI1g?view_as=subscriber
I will be posting many videos here in the future about topics that interest me. Some of those include investing, traveling, business, trains and exploring. As previously said, head over there and subscribed and be sure to check back here as I will be writing more blog posts in the future. I hope you enjoyed reading this little snippet about my beginning of investing and how it has gone for me during the pandemic. I hope that you can give me any feedback, and bear with me as I am new to this and only want to get better at it in the future.
