The Family Life
I had been a single mom since my youngest was two. Until about four years ago, it was just the three of us against the world... sort of. Maybe more them against me. If they could get into it, whatever it was, they did. I woke up one morning to find the entire contents of my fridge behind my couch and my son telling me he was trying to make breakfast. I’m not sure how he was trying to make breakfast behind the couch or what he was making, but it didn’t work out. Two hours and a lot of elbow grease later, the disaster was taken care of by yours truly.

Gratitude Is the Attitude
As a parent, one of the worse things you can have to deal with is the illness of your child. When one of my children was diagnosed with a rare and serious brain disorder at the age of four-years-old, I felt as if I had been picked up by the legs, swung around, and flung onto another planet. I spent a good few days writing out questions for doctors, who couldn’t answer them, drinking large amounts of wine after the children had gone to bed, and researching everything I possibly could about this illness that had suddenly cast a dark shadow over our lives.

Who Am I?
Ever sit and question who you are? Where you came from? Those are questions I asked myself everyday for 30 years. Growing up, I always knew I was different. I didn't belong to the family which I grew up with. Something wasn't right and I needed to know.

Why Did She Stay?
I want to tackle and answer the one question many people ask when they find out a friend, a relative, or a loved one was in an abusive relationship: Why did she/he stay? Now, I'm no expert, I'm no psychologist, but I am one woman out of many with a story to tell.

Best Hair Products for Brunettes to Have All the Time
Brunettes definitely do need some love in the hairstyling game. These dark beauties can't be left out when it comes to styling, caring, and pampering the hair. There are lots of products out there that we can't use because they're solely for blondes or those with red hair. We need hair product that will take great care and even enhance our hair color. Since we adore the brunette color so much, it only makes sense to care for it.

Me Too
I'm encouraged and deeply saddened by the trending, "me too" on social media. I'm encouraged because victims spoke out in an unusual setting but the point is, they spoke out. I cannot stress enough the importance of breaking the silence but it doesn't end with breaking the silence. I'm going to share a little part of my story that I hope helps you see why breaking the silence is so important but going beyond that as well is vital to ending the problem.

When I Was Pinched in the Mission
Back in school, I had gone to get my dinner, and I was walking down the street at night sticking close to a group of people. Out of nowhere, some idiot pinched me in between the legs. I mean pinched. Right there. Pulled on me, and pinched. This is sexual harassment at its finest. I yelled at him, swinging my grocery bag at his chest three times. I then cornered somebody, a male somebody, yelling at the person to look out for somebody smaller than he was because some idiot had pinched me. I was surrounded but I escaped that situation rather quickly, and I was yelling at them really loud. I had beef, green beans, and cheese in my bag as my only weapon.
