Wow, it's been 100 years since the suffragette movement began in 1918. As a proud feminist, its a year to celebrate all that we have achieved over the past 100 years to get closer to our goal of equality. Although we're not there yet, even in first world countries, we have made huge progress, from women gaining the vote in 1920 to women being allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia in 2017. A Mother's Fear of Not Doing Enough
I have a two-year-old. In October, she will be three—and so on each year she will get older. Recently I took "stress leave" from work. I am currently doing a career change (I guess I can call it that), with not as much luck as I'd hoped. My daughter goes to daycare three days a week: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I get four whole days with her and with not working at the moment I have plenty of time to do a lot of things with her.

When watching television, we hardly stop to analyze what subliminal messages the ads and shows are portraying. We usually just pick up the obvious messages and the rest is placed somewhere in the back of our minds. After thoroughly analyzing one television channel for 2 hours, I began to realize that a lot more ideas and messages are entering our minds than what we may see on the surface. In my writing I am going to be analyzing the ideas portrayed in the shows and commercials presented on the television station “Nick at Nite” and examine the way they they depict beauty images and how they represent the beauty norms of our society.
