Working in TV Part 2
So you have decided to create that profile have you? Remember this is not like your usual CV, it doesn’t really matter what qualifications you got at school, whether you were head of the student union, or the need for references. Productions and agencies would like to know about the person that you are now so honesty and optimism are important. By all means mention your previous job roles or careers, no need to list employers etc, just mention that you were previously a chef, a barrister, a market trader, a police officer, anything really. In this world selections are often initially made from applicants who have real life experience in the roles being cast.

Tech Week in the Theatre Realm
So I think we can all quickly name off famous actors from theatre. Hugh Jackman, Ben Platt, Josh Groban, and the list goes on and on and on. What about the tech crew, though? Can you name some people who have been involved with successful shows like Hamilton that worked as a stage manager? Or how about a lighting designer from the show Lion King on Broadway? It becomes a bit more difficult. These magnificent people that work behind the scenes are the true heroes of the theatre realm. And around a week or two before each show starts, lighting designers, stage producers, assistant stage producers, audio designers and choreographers of all shapes an sizes (and believe it or not, occasionally individuals take on two or more of these roles for a show on the local theatre level, HUGE shout out to them!) give up sleep, food, and sometimes healthy hygiene habits to make sure a show is ready by the time it is supposed to open. I'd like to dedicate this post to my beloved tech crews I've worked with and any one out there that has a tech person that they love and cherish. Let's talk about tech week in a show: specifically my experiences with set, sound and lighting.

Four Years
On your way to University, the first things that go through your mind are: yay, I get to be away from my parents, I can eat whatever I want, I have full emancipation and all freedom to live my life, and I'm going to make these four years count. You probably thought that you would join a million and one different societies, get honors in your major and just fly through each year of university in a breeze.

Questions from Undergrad: Why Did I Do That?
I’ve walked across the stage. Received the fancy diploma case. Shook hands with the chancellor and forced big smiles at the flashing cameras. As I sit back into my folded chair on a breezy spring day, I think: ah, I’ve made it. I got the diploma. I got through whatever blur of a college experience that was to finally see my friends and family take me in open arms and say, “You did it!” And how did I get here? In the midst of developing within the 18-22 age group, I, as well as many others, have gone through all-nighters, poor decisions, relationship ups and downs, academic barriers, and just plain old shit hitting the fan on the journey to the good ole Bachelor’s degree. Making it here means I somehow made slightly more good decisions than bad. College is not always a soap opera and things can also go quite smoothly in the college career; however, there have been some interesting and challenging moments experienced due to some of my own making. Going through challenging obstacles and dealing with shit in fans is also somewhat a part of the college experience—make mistakes to learn from them; by doing so, you’ll come out of college a smarter, more functional human being. At any rate, I thought I would write down things that still pop up in my head to this day about my undergraduate life and think, “What the..? Wait, why did I think that was a good idea?” If you’re a first-year student or even further in your journey to the degree, maybe this will act as a warning, but even then, chances are you’ll end up dealing with your own unique bad and good decisions anyway. If you’ve graduated, perhaps this will be somewhat relatable. Or, at the very least, my odd decisions will finally be of use as entertainment.

Single Mum Study Time
OK, so how did I get to being a mature student? Well, let me tell you, there is a stigma attached to being a stay at home mum; some say that you aren't willing to work, others say how easy life must be. It's not, and most single mums out there will know that, when a child is having a day of it (throwing a tantrum), mentally, you're better off at work, LOL.

Education and Morality
Education: Where would society be if there wasn't a system of education in place to provide the nurturing of the mind as well as the body so that any individual will be able to have the availability to gain the knowledge and the background necessary to succeed in life? A Democratic society's existence is solely dependent on the education of all the population. Our Democratic Republic can only succeed and thrive when there is a certain degree of excellence within in the educational systems that are in place. For, without an educated society, civilizations will revert back to the cave of the Neanderthal. The book The Lord Of The Flies is a great description of what happens when there is one definitive order or no laws of civility embedded in the minds of youth; a prime example of what happens when the education of a society no longer is justified as being essential but is directed toward a self-preserving role of rule.
