Toys "R" Us Founder Charles P. Lazarus Passes Away
Wow, it's actually happening. Toys "R" Us is closing its doors. I was in denial for the longest time. So I suppose this is now my five stages of grieving for the toy distributor. It's only when I spoke with my friend the other day did I realize this might actually happen. Even now as I write this, I am shocked that a giant that massive will be closing. So many people grew up with Toys "R" Us, having seen the big stores or the commercials about the latest toys. They had it all; Nerf toys, Yugioh cards, EVERYTHING! And now when I pass by the massive building, only a shallow grave of its former glory.

Letter to High School Students Beginning College
Dear high school grad student, I am writing this letter to inform you on how to survive your first quarter in college. Obviously you’re coming from a high school where they tell you that college is the hardest thing you’ll ever do. The first thing you and your fellow students need to do this quarter is get the high school mentality out of your head. This includes all the bad habits, the drama, and the thoughts of how you’ll never succeed. However, if you're into smoking weed or doing drugs, I will say that that is you decision but if it interferes with your schooling or home life, I would suggest you cut down so you succeed. In reality, college is as hard as you make it out to be. As long as you stay away from all those things that will drag you farther away from success, and seek out the resources you need to be able to succeed, then you’ll be on top.

I Know You Mean Well, But...
Blank pages. Deadlines. Rewrites on rewrites. Just a few things that can lead to a stressed out and depressed writer. A stigma that fits most of us, if not all, mainly because it’s a job that can be lonely and requires an at times unhealthy amount of discipline to focus on. It helps when we have friends and family that inspire us to be the best we can be.

Hannah vs. Unemployment
Admittedly, I have been extremely fortunate not to have experienced long periods of unemployment. Having said that, the experience I do have allows me to empathise somewhat with those of you that have. There are very, very few things in this life more demoralising or soul-destroying than being on the hunt for a job. You’ve more hoops to jump through than… than… than someone with lots of hoops to jump through. It seriously can be a bottomless pit of irritation and disappointment. Life quickly turns in to a hideously bleak cycle of weekly CV sprucing, lengthy application questions, the trolling of every job site imaginable, setting up endless job alert emails (ironically mostly alerting you to jobs you don’t really want), being over-qualified, being under-qualified, being too inexperienced, sweaty interview handshakes, sweaty interview rooms, general sweaty-ness, and of course, after enduring all that, let's not forget that delightful, bitter sting of rejection.
