It is that time of year again, where girls are shopping for grad dresses, boys are renting tuxes and wondering what girl they should take to the banquet or dance with. The grad banquet is all fun and games, there is then very often an after-grad party. Some will never forget that night or some will forget it all and not remember it by morning. Some high schools have a grade 12 day, where anyone who went to graduation does not need to go to school the next day due to the hangovers everyone is having.

I grew up HATING math. I dreaded it every day and tried to avoid taking math courses wherever I could. Even during my first semester of college, I struggled through algebra. I just used the study guide the night before the test for last minute studying. I consistently procrastinated and caused myself unnecessary stress. I ended up switching my major to a math-centered subject and had to overcome my phobia. These five brain hacks I learned from reading the book A Mind for Numbers by Barbara Oakley, Ph.D., helped me conquer calculus and thoroughly enjoy the class. Amazingly, I’m excited about my future coursework and even favor math slightly over the arts and humanities classes.

The Dangers of Being a Writer in the 21st Century
Dear Vocal Readers, Oh, writing, how I love it so. But as much as I love writing, the whole concept also terrifies me. Nowadays it seems as though every original idea has been taken. If someone has an idea for a book, it may have already been written years ago. If someone has a specific beat in their song, it may sound just like one from the past. I mean Google it, I'm sure you will get pages of videos showing songs with similar words or beats. In this day and age, it is extremely hard to come up with something original that can't be compared to other pieces.
