Batman: Arkham Asylum
In Memory of Kevin Conroy, Rest Easy; Gotham's in Good Hands There are many superheroes in the world of entertainment - I mean we've got a whole universe of them (thanks Marvel). For decades, audiences have been thrilled by the likes of Spiderman, Captain America, Superman, the Flash and many more. Out of all of the superheroes out there, however, I don't think anyone had a greater impact than Batman.

February: One Goal Accomplished
Early February: I've completed the first of my 2025 goals! Ooh it feels good. I put together a list of writing goals for the year of 2025. Admittedly, I assume there will wind up being more that pop up throughout the year, but I wanted to put down some things that were most important to me, and then try to get through as many of those as I could. It was 16 different goals I jotted down, and I assumed I wouldn't get through them all. But I wanted to try to get through as many as I could. Give myself constant goals on the horizon to strive for.

Henny Penny was Right
This tale concerns a grouple, or group of like-minded people, who tried to tell the villagers of their country that danger was approaching, sure and swift. Of this grouple, many were men and women of science who studied and measured things. Their knowledge was posted on every streetlight, tree, and sandwich board in the village. They made sure that what they studied was available to everyone.

Comeback
When I first started thinking about this challenge, I thought about the word renewal. The end of my 22 year marriage last year had me feeling all kinds of ways that were both dysregulating and exhausting, and my initial thought was that I should focus on rebirth, starting over as something and someone less stressed, less broken, and less worn down. My kids deserve a primary parent who can match their energy and respond to their needs with more patience, and the way things were going left me wanting to better figure out how to again be that dad that they deserve. These goals, however, didn't really seem like enough. An important baseline, perhaps, but what else could I aim for?

Read This if You Feel Like Giving Up
Life in its brevity often feels burdensome, yearning for us to be free of all the turbulence that stirs up its breaths in our hearts. How beautiful would life be if we let go of pain, anger, sadness, grim! I wish we had built-in programming that would delete all the moments and experiences that stirred catastrophic fires and raged war and kindled and whooshed the fire within us simultaneously! Human minds behold the capability of inventiveness, of loving, of living and yet with so much to be blissful about, we are inherent in our ounces to be boggled about negativity, to be enveloped in the traumatic flashes of our photographic memory. I know it is vital to be grateful for the goodness of life, the light that exists in our strides, the privilege and the beauties that we possess, the existence that we lead is a dream for many, that all consorts to be the gospel truth and cannot be denied. But at the end of every second we spend in this mortal realm, in the most painstaking way I would shout in gallant echoes of the rooftop, it is okay to not be okay!

Actor Irene Artal’s Poignant Performances Support LGTBIQ+ Rights in Spain and in America
Artal's role as the lesbian character Marta in the award-winning short, Por qué no llamas a Ernesto? Citing the buzz around Oscar-nominated movie, Emilia Perez, which celebrates the story of a fictional trans character, Irene Artal offers thoughts on her own role as the lesbian character Marta in the award-winning short, Por qué no llamas a Ernesto? (“Why don’t you call, Ernesto?”). Spanish-born Artal, who has her sights on Hollywood, explains, “As an artist, I feel a responsibility to contribute to projects that reflect the diversity of human experiences. Representation matters, and being part of stories that aren’t told as often, like those of LGBTQ+ characters, helps break stereotypes and create understanding.”

The Drip
The Drip D. A. Ratliff As the new experimental medicine flowed into me, I wondered if it would be enough or too much. My doctors were optimistic, but I had gotten to know them better than I ever wanted to and learned they were kind, compassionate, and prone to optimism. I suppose they had to be positive in the face of failure, or they couldn’t go on, and their patients wouldn’t either. So, I lay here in this stark room, the love of my life sitting next to me, dressed in sterile clothing, because if I got an infection, I would surely die. So, I lie here, listening to the drip, drip, drip of chemicals flowing into my body. Those drips became a metronome, and music flowed through my soul.
