You’re probably wondering why I’m writing something political when I don’t tend to write political rants.
Well I’m tired of the violence abetting and I’m tired of being ignored. I’m tired of seeing the government getting away with a mob mentality. But most of all, I’m tired of white supremacy being condoned - even welcomed - into the White House.
I realize writing this I could receive some nasty backlash, but I don’t care. I’m sick of this mob that’s our government. That’s not how things should be. People, like everything else in nature, have the ability to see things change and adapt - yet what disgusts me the most is that the same people who won’t use their mental capacities are in charge.
Our founding fathers understood the need for change when they founded this country as slave owners (talk about irony) yet we haven’t done nearly enough to see it through. So I’m going to list exactly why I hate this administration.
First off, let’s talk about something usually reserved for controversy. The tension between races shouldn’t logically be as violent as they are considering how many mixed race people exist in this country. Yet how many years had Black Lives Matter been ignored before the violence? It’s irritating to say the least, and eventually that irritating feeling comes to fruition as rage. When Black Lives Matter came out as a movement on Twitter it was little more than a group of like-minded people who just wanted to be heard like every movement in existence. Yet there were people calling for violence against this peaceful movement even back then. I don’t have to like the current violence in order to understand how it came to be - and there’s some truth in the defense of the violence. Blood has to be spilled in a revolution, especially in the US. We tend to be violent in our nature in this country because we’ve fought so hard for it to exist. I understand and accept it, even though I can’t stand the bloodshed. It’s against my nature as a pacifist to comprehend violence.
Second off, the sexism that still exists after all the feminist movements is appalling. It’s not right that women, especially women of color, are treated worse than a man in exactly the same stance. It’s incredible how little men have to do for the recognition a woman will never earn. There’s praise and then there’s giving medals for breathing. I’d love to see Donald Trump scrub toilets like his maid does. For that matter, I’d love to see any man do the same work as a woman and see how he likes being ridiculed for his hair that day. We don’t prepare our boys for reality. As a society we’re letting boys live in bubbles. This was a problem before Trump, this much is true, but now it’s escalated into a dangerous situation to the point where women who didn’t fear men now do.
Third of all, I will say how disgusted I am with Super PACs. These PACs (political action committees) have gotten out of control on both major sides. Sides don’t matter when the game is rigged. Sure you can have independent parties, but in the end the only way to get things done is to pay for your spot on the ballot. Money runs the country when we talk about the presidential level, even if a candidate doesn’t spend every single cent they have on campaigning or raise quite as much money for those campaigns.
It’s difficult to be proud of a country and love the land of so many bigots using “freedom of speech” as an excuse to remain ignorant. I’m tired of the status quo, but I’m not giving up. That’s why everyone should vote on November 3rd. Everyone should send in mail-in ballots. If you’re tired of it all like me, wouldn’t you risk your life to use your right to vote?
