Uuuggghh... I’m sure I’m not the only one constantly checking the news feed to hear if there are any updates on the stimulus check. Where is my money? I thought I was going to get it last month! I thought I was going to get it this month! Now it looks like mid-March!?? With all do respect, all I can think of is WTH! And if I’m being completely honest, that H is really a F.

And this is coming from someone still working! I can’t even imagine what life must be like for those who have lost their jobs due to Covid. My heart breaks for them. Because, although as a teacher my workload has increased, and my pay is still the same, at least I have a job!

I have students with parents who have lost their jobs because many places have closed down. I have students who have lost loved ones and now their families are stuck with funeral expenses. I have students with families who only get fed through the lunches we provide. I have students with families who need this check ASAP and by ASAP I mean YESTERDAY!

And while our government debates weather 75K is too much there are people who make just that that are struggling to pay bills. As a single parent of a babyboy, I can attest to this fact. Diapers, milk, eczema medicine, bottled waters, food, clothes which constantly need to be replenished because a baby grows at rapid speed, the list goes on and on. Rent is half my paycheck monthly which means I live on half of what I make. And because I’m in New Jersey and not somewhere in the middle of nowhere everything cost twice as much as it would in say, I dunno, Kansas!

Yes this is me venting... but this is also me wondering how Americans are surviving? I’ve dwindled my savings just to keep up with my bills and that stack is slowly but surely depleting with no signs of replenishment any time soon.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who wonders how other countries can provide monthly checks for their citizens while it takes America months of back-and-forth debates to decide on one check every six months to a year? In the words of Kanye West, “How Sway!?” How?!?

If I could insert GIFs here it would be of ... wait, can I? BRB!

Ok! Turns out you can!! I don’t own the rights to these but they seem to be public property soo here goes! I MUST add visuals to this outrage inside my soul!

Any news on the Stimulus Check?

Whaat? We have to wait another month?

Wait, they might lower the max to 55k instead of 75K?

Followed by...

All this coming from people who don’t work the whole year round and who make 6 figures for it, If Not more. This is what I picture when I picture how hard they work “all” year... and IRS not fair in the least!

I’m not understanding:

1. What’s taking soo long?

2. Why the decrease in salary cap?

3. Again, what’s taking soooooooo loooonnnggg??

I’m just at a complete loss... for myself. For the millions of people who’s situations are way worse than mine. For our society.

This pandemic has definitely shown me many things about the country we live in. The wealthy have profited from this pandemic while many are going hungry. How our government is “for the people” but can’t provide. How important savings are. How quickly savings can go. How equity is non existent. How messed up this country is. And how we as a nation need to do better. If other countries can do it, SO CAN WE! So why aren’t we? Why haven’t we?

Searching for answers that I can’t seem to find on ABC, NBC, FOX, CNN or Facebook news...

And I’m almost certain that I’m NOT the only one. All I know is that I need this check to come! For me! For my students and their families! For all those who aren’t making buku (a lot) of money. I need our government to....

POINT. BLANK. PERIOD.
