What If The Election Audits Did Go In Favor Of Donald Trump And What Might The Supreme Court, The Military, Congress, And The Trump Supporters Do If The Unimaginable Should Happen?
Examining the Worst Case Scenario We Never Dreamed Of In Civics Class
After a day of our favorite ex-president being in the news talking about his big tech suits, and more than a dozen reporters that have published their opinions and legal opinions on the question of the forensic election audits, I decided to sit down and take my own look at what might be should the unimaginable actually happen.
For some time now, former President Donald Trump has been allegedly telling people that he will be reinstated to the presidency this fall. This all seems to be predicated on the fear or insane belief that the audits that are being pushed for, forensic audits, will unveil new evidence of widespread fraud during the 2020 election. Any fraud should have, and hopefully, is being properly investigated. In the case of our democracy, there's arguably no action that shouldn't be taken to secure our constitutional right to vote. But, what if these audits proved that Donald Trump was the rightful winner of the 2020 election?
The Voters
To both those that voted for Donald Trump and those that voted for President Biden, this presents a unique revelation that many have suspected for years. Our vote doesn't matter. If this is a shock to you, consider that the right to vote is a part of our democracy, however, it is not a constitutionally protected right. More than a decade ago the organization Fair Vote became a leading institutional voice that demanded the establishment of an amendment that would grant an explicit right to vote for all U.S. citizens. Still though, today, our vote is left to the states to decide and determine the qualifications to vote. This leaves our vote open to abuses in the absence of an amendment that would allow the courts to keep politicians in check when they try to game the vote for partisan reasons. In 2013 when the Supreme Court ruled against section 4 of the Voting Rights Act, the Justice Department was stripped of the five-decade-old powers that allowed it to curb racial discrimination in voting.
Without an actual right to vote, our vote is still at the whim of the elected officials that depend on our vote to gain and continue to keep power.

The Presidency
What becomes of the presidency should we learn that it was intentionally stolen by manipulating a fraudulent election? For 245 years the President of The United States has been a duly elected leader to the office, chosen by the people, and sworn in after a long and thorough constitutional process. If, for instance, it's proven that the 2020 election was manipulated by sources outside, or inside the country, then many questions loom.
Before the election in 2020, President Trump warned that there would be voter fraud, saying that there'd be a fraud like never before in American history. Many people throughout the White House believed that there was in fact felonious activity during the election process. At 10:00 that night, I remember looking at the results, like most of America, and thinking it was done and over. There was a comfortable margin in favor of President Trump. Joe Biden was losing. Then the key states stopped counting for the night, something that had never happened before in America's election history. Waking up the next morning it was clear there was something that changed in the middle of the night. Joe Biden was pulling ahead, or already ahead, in states he was virtually assured to have lost. Not giving it much thought at the time, I went on about my life.
Now, here we are, six months after the start of the Biden presidency and there are forensic audits. Forensic audits of the popular vote would be able to catch and identify voting irregularities, abnormalities, fraudulent activity, felonious actions, and cheating. It seems unthinkable, but as the Arizona situation continues to unfold, possibly flipping the state, what about Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Trump had 232 votes.

Georgia=16 Wisconsin=10 Arizona=11 Pennsyvania=20
In just the hotly disputed states, where the allegations of discrepancies seem to be the worst, there are 57 electoral votes that would be in dispute. Trump only needs 38 electoral votes to reach 270, just 1 more than the number Biden would have to lose if the audits were to change the results.
The Decision
As legal scholars from around the country and the supreme court will be looking at this as it all works its' way out, the question then becomes, what if it did play out in favor of Trump? Who would be making decisions? Would Biden and Harris be removed from office? Would there be more investigations to determine who, if anyone in Washington, was complicit? Ask any Trump supporter and even they might tell you that it was the Russians or the Chinese because they knew they could push Joe Biden around easier. Donald did after all walk into North Korea for the face-to-face showdown with Kim Jong Un. What would it take to remove Biden if it comes to that? The answer seems to be that nobody knows. There's no legal instrument that points to what to do in the case of a coup at the Whitehouse, and a President ascending through the course of a cheated election would be a coup, albeit a covert one.
Why should we worry? Well, I'm not particularly worried because audits of this nature are slow and methodical. By the time they get the audits done, it might well be the middle of 2022, and then take another year or two to answer what to do about the situation. Then, if you take into account that it is the government, I'm sure Bidens' administration will do everything they can to stop the audits if it looks like they're in trouble. Besides, even under the best of circumstances, it's still got to be harder than that to steal an election...right?
And if the audits prove that the election was stolen the questions will begin to surmount faster than the answers. "We The People" will no longer feel like it matters. Our voices, no matter which side we are on, will become silent in the face of such a grand betrayal by our own leaders.
"We the people are the government, you and I."
President Joe Biden
Perhaps in a world where our president might be a little more articulate, we wouldn't have much to worry about. It seems that the partisan lines that were drawn over four years ago when Donald Trump won the presidency included playing fast and loose with the understanding of the Constitution. Maybe, if people believed Joe Biden was everything that he was hoped to be, there wouldn't be as much fear of the election audits, but in a Whitehouse that is appearing every bit as dysfunctional as the last, I'll stipulate that anything is possible.
If the election results are overturned, and a decision is rendered to return Donald Trump to the office of the President of The United States, I imagine that the worst of America would be upon us all. Both sides seem to be struggling with more and more extremist views amongst their ranks. Both sides are forever in a game of political one-upmanship that we've all grown tired of. Should the supreme court order that Biden is not the rightful president, an electoral college convention would have to take place to recertify the election, or so it would seem from some points of view. Congress would be involved, and let's face facts, they'd be coming for a fight unlike any we've seen yet. It could require military intervention to remove a seated president and commander in chief, something never counted on by the founding fathers and our leaders throughout history.
I honestly, and wholeheartedly, hope that by the time this comes about, if Trump has won, I'm able to afford to leave the country for an unspecified amount of time. But, I'm not worried, because as everyone is worried about him being reinstated to the Whitehouse I read that he's actually being reinstated and the president of Trump University.
