US Presidents are chosen by the people and not divinely appointed

Registered voters choose American leaders and not the Almighty.

Harsh truth deserves attention

I cannot believe there are still people who claim that God chose Donald Trump to be president. If that were true, then who chose Joe Biden, Obama and all previous presidents? How can sane adults exhibit such tunnel vision they overlook obvious facts?

The truth is, America has a voting system with two major parties. Sometimes, more U.S. citizens vote Republican, and in other elections, more people vote Democrat. Among the voters are atheists, agnostics, and individuals with diverse belief systems who are not Christian. So tell me again how Donald Trump was divinely appointed.

Americans cast votes-the Almighty did not

Some people interviewed after the election mentioned that they did not want to vote for Trump but couldn't see themselves voting for Kamala Harris. No disrespect intended to anyone, but Biden, in an attempt to appear progressive, shot himself in the foot when he chose Harris as his female running mate.

When he stepped down and his Vice President ran on the Democratic ticket, many Americans were not ready for a female president. Although no one admitted it there are still American voters who have problems with candidates of color.

Harris was both Asian and African American. Additionally, Kamala's views on abortion caused some voters to shift their support to Trump who ran anti-abortion ticket.

Free will determines presidents

Now, many Trump supporters are expressing regret over their vote. Of they believed God put The Donald in office, then why are they second guessing their actions? It's because Trump has cut programs that help the poor and needy, and has led to job losses for many Americans, including his supporters.

Returning to the main point, U.S. voters cast individual ballots and make personal choices. Christians who claim God chose Trump should understand the voting process. Every day, individuals around the world exercise their free will and decide whether they believe Jesus Christ died for their sins.

Human hands or Divine intervention

The Bible is filled with stories where God intervened to place kings on the throne or remove them. This is not the American way. People vote based on their intellect, will, emotions, and conscience. The Creator allows free will and does not force anyone to voteone way or another.

U.S. presidents are meant to govern all people. In the interest of every American citizen, they may face tough choices and make decisions that are not necessarily aligned with biblical teachings. The current administration has made choices that adversely affect those who need assistance the most.

Trump supporters are affected by his decisions

The Bible teaches us to care for strangers in the land and to look out for the poor, widows, and orphans. Decisions made by the current administration are harming immigrants and those in need in our nation.

Studies continue to show that the Americans most affected by the cuts in j0obs and services have been supporters of MAGA. So again, I ask: how is any of this coming from heaven above?

In 2028, Americans will vote again, assuming the world is still standing. Donald Trump's approval ratings are decreasing, especially among his supporters.

It's likely that if the Americans become fed up with the current administration and the lack of transparency with the Jeffrey Epstein files they will not support Republicans in the next election.

The will of the American people prevails

If Democrats can find a suitable candidate, that person might be elected as the next President of the United States, because the will of the majority ruled and ultimately prevails.

Human beings often resist harsh truths and tend to cling to their views, even when they are wrong. Can a president be influenced by their faith and submit to the God they believe in? Yes.

Does God communicate with American voters to indicate a specific candidate should be in office? Possibly but not across the board. Still there are Americans who continue to insist God chose Donald Trump as US president.

Harris was about as inept and inarticulate at times as her boss. She wasn't ready for that level of spotlight, and I'd say confidently that the amount of nervous laughter and double-speak she was known for showed a good portion of the public that she wasn't ready. Even the responsibilities thrust upon her by Joe were considered some of her more dismal failures. So, as much as some want to say it's because she was a woman, or a person of color, or a combination of both, how about taking a look at her record? It wasn't the greatest, and probably part of why she couldn't get her party's nomination in 2016. She had a dismal run then and likely would have seen a dismal run in 2024 if she had been on her own going into the primary. Did God choose Donald Trump? Now, that's an odd debate to entertain. It makes about as much sense to say God chose Donald Trump as it did when people were saying that Obama was the anti-christ.

  • I have a brother and cousin who believes God chose Rumpty Dumpty. I do not have much to say to either of them. Personally I am a progressive 75 years old person who cannot comprehend why my brother and cousin are so MAGA has to be their tiny tools and mysogynist attitude

  • Interesting essay Cheryl. I have to agree with you. I have some some of those MAGAs that’s so Donald Trump is there by divine intervention. I tell them, “Well then God put him there to show us what a truly bad leader looks like.” No I want to touch on two things that you mentioned in your essay. One you mentioned her the United States isn’t ready to elect a female president and even more so one that is of color. So many of my friends are done the crap, which I am, or in denial about that. I am not in denial of the fact that United States are still not ready to vote in a female president. If we were Hillary Clinton would’ve been elected she was ultimately the most experience candidate that had ever run for president before Joe Biden ran. She’s intelligent, she’s tough, She would have been able to do the job and get it done properly. But she is a woman. Sad to say this is where we are. I like Kamala Harris. She actually seems like she’s probably a pretty nice lady. And boy is she tough. Other than the fact that she really do not have enough time to prepare a good strong campaign I just felt that she was not the strongest potential candidate that the Democrats had and I felt her campaign played it way to safe. She should’ve been out there saying the things that nobody saying but everybody is thinking. But she didn’t she played it way too safe and she lost. Plus there was a lot else going on there was a major disinformation campaign funded by Elon Musk. Also you mentioned that several people voted for the Republican because supposedly Democrats are for abortion. But that is not completely accurate. Most Democrats I’m not for abortion itself. What Democrats believe is that politicians should not be making that sort of decision for a woman. Suggest myself, I do not believe that abortion is the answer to an unwanted pregnancy. But I also believe that that is not my decision to make for another person. I feel that decision should be made between the pregnant woman and her husband and their doctor. If there is no Husband or boyfriend in the picture of them it should be a decision maybe between the woman and her doctor. Not a decision made by the politicians without any input from the woman. So, I do not believe in abortion (unless the life of the mom is in jeopardy or it is a case of rape or incest) but I also feel that it is not my decision to make nor is it the decision of our politicians to make.
