I'm going to put this out there: Is a person who was shot at and missed a hero? From what I have always known a hero is someone who is courageous and/or possesses noble qualities. Such as a person who saves another person's life. A person that will go to any length to help the less fortunate so that they may have a better quality of life. The hero is someone who goes into action to save someone or help someone. Simply dodging a bullet is not a heroic action.

No, You Should Actually Vote
It’s hard to find words to describe how it has felt living through the last 25 or so years of American politics. The best I can do is “soul-numbing.” It’s been overwhelming, disappointing and often scary. It feels like we’re constantly on the precipice of losing a lot, and it’s difficult to tell how much of that is fear mongering or not. In addition, it feels like the ultra-rich and extremists are in control. When you’re beaten over the head with negativity and given bad options, it seems easier to fall into apathy and refuse to participate.

Spring Cleaning
I've been feeling very angry the last few weeks—a noticeable increase from the "angry" of the last several months. My frustration has mounted to volcanic proportions so that I (at the time of starting this piece) have spent three days crying at the slightest inconvenience, screaming in my car, and throwing my fists at inanimate objects, hands shaking from clenching so tight. This isn't necessarily uncharacteristic of me, but it has been uncommon since I found my proper medication nearly ten years ago. What is it that has my therapized and medicated cool demeanor on such an edge these days? It might be easier to ask what doesn't, but I'll do my best to explain everything clearly.

I think I may have to vote
I wasn't upset when they told me that I couldn't vote anymore. I didn't want to go through the red tape to reinstate my voting privilege. I figured there's no way to ever vote for the right person, and I don't trust the voting system anyway. I've had my opinions about my country, the structure, principles, constitution, legislation, and history. I've been watching things change since the Reagan administration. I could recap all the follies of every Presidency I've endured since 1971. But I won't waste your time with my skewed historical summary. Instead, I will just say that of the three "taboos" (sex, religion, and politics) Americans seem quite satisfied taking on religion and politics, but they are still the most hush hush and hypocritical when it comes to sex.
