Global Suicide: Humanity, Especially in U$, Is Unfit to Survive
Humanity is not going to make it. We could if we wanted to . . . buuuuttt . . . we’re not willing to lift our butts long enough to pull it off. Unrestrained greed, self-interest, & little that resembles logic are the main factors driving human animosity towards others, whether they be one’s brother, neighbor, or distant international foe. Putting the emphasis on our differences rather than on our commonalities & mutual needs is a primary driver for sending us over the edge into the chaotic void we are witnessing.

The Journey From Columbia to Panama
Note: This article may contain sensitive images. The Darien Gap, also called the “smuggling corridor”, is a jungle that exists between Columbia and Panama. This area of ungoverned land is the most common route for human and drug trafficking. Home to Marxist guerilla groups and indigenous inhabitants, the ecological landfill is considered the most dangerous jungle in the world. It also happens to be the most common route that refugees take to reach North America.

A New Round of Satanic Panic: Book Banning Throughout the United States
I honestly think people who are interested in getting books banned from libraries have too much free time on their hands. I’ve been getting updates from various people about book bans across the United States. Some of these book bans are coming from school boards and others are coming from state legislators.

Back to School Conversations
There are only a few days left of the month of August 2022 as I take on the "back to school" topic. For all I know, there are students and teachers in a classroom right at this moment as I'm typing this article. I pray they are safe and well. They don't have time to write this article, but I do - and as a retired teacher I feel it is my duty to "talk" about the subjects concerning public school, the business and politics of the institution, and some "controversies" that still exist and will probably always exist as long as there are people who believe in the continuum of Public Education.

Woke Cows, Canceled Horses
As awareness rises, plenty of schools have switched mascots Since the early 1970s, as American institutions of higher learning have recognized the insensitive and downright racist nature of their mascots - which so often denigrated Native Americans - they have ditched those symbols in favor of more benign ones.

Book Bans Are a Slide Towards Authoritarianism
Banning books. I never thought I’d see it in the modern era. The United States of America is a country based on the principles of protecting free speech, no matter how offensive that speech may be. Mr. Ron DeSantis, Governor of the state of Florida, do you believe in the concept of free speech? Will you fervently defend the 1st Amendment? Based on the bills you’re signing into law, I think not.

Governor DeSantis, Your Don’t Say Gay Bill is Disgusting and So are You
Photo by Gage Skidmore There’s no reason ever, in any situation, for a teacher to “say gay” or get involved in a discussion about sexuality or gender identity - except for one. Get ready Florida, here it comes, and I shouldn’t have to tell your disgraceful governor this.
