Why The UK Needs Electoral Reform
The 2015 General Election came and went, delivering a Conservative majority government with Labour failing to engage the electorate as a credible alternative and ended up having less seats than they did after the 2010 General Election, which must have been disappointing and shocking in equal measure to the Labour leadership. The Scottish National Party (SNP), as predicted, swept through Scotland gaining a landslide, winning 56 out of 59 seats. Nicola Sturgeon's bold conviction and a presentation of a new progressive form of politics tuned in to the social beating heart of Scotland. The Liberal Democrats faced the wrath of the electorate, getting pulverised with only 8 seats being won with heavy ministerial losses such as Vince Cable (Business Secretary) and Danny Alexander (Treasury). In many constituencies they were behind both the UK Independence Party (UKIP) and the Greens. The explosion of the UKIP movement failed to make an impact on the Commons with only one seat being won whilst Nigel Farage failed to win South Thanet. This, in particular, brought the issue of electoral reform back into the public consciousness.

Where Are We Headed? Seems as though somebody opened up the fireplug at the end of the block and left her unattended. In a world supposedly controlled more and more by computers and algorithms, self driving cars and the like, it's the people that are out of control. For a generation or two past the first Nuclear Weapon being used, we sure are headed the wrong direction with some several thousand of them available for use by the countries that are supposed to the civilized ones. In fact, one wonders, with the rate of hostility out there today what are we even doing having these darn things accessible to any human being?

It’s been a wild few weeks for Gwinnett County (Ga.) Commissioner Tommy Hunter. Hunter, who was elected into office in 2012, is in hot water for a series of Facebook rants on various issues. The most recent rant involved Commissioner Hunter taking to Facebook to respond to Ga. Congressman John Lewis stating Donald Trump is an illegitimate President. Commissioner Hunter weighed in calling Congressman Lewis, a renowned civil rights leader, a “racist pig”.

The Story Of Truth & Lie
I often find myself fascinated with the intricacies of how we perceive the truth; how we are willing to accept the truth or reject it in order to give ourselves peace of mind when confronted with inconvenient realities. It seems we as a society have become experts (whether it be consciously or subconsciously) in deconstructing what we know are factual truths and then reconstructing them to be more appropriate, more righteous, and even more politically correct. We perform mental gymnastics; accepting certain aspects of a factual reality, while omitting or outright rejecting other aspects of that same reality in order to drive home a point we want to make.

He's taken a stand against former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke regarding his support of the confirmation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General, and added, via Twitter, that "If David Duke....DAVID!...DUKE!... thinks you're right, then you are unequivocally wrong."

#CALEXIT, Leaving a Nation
If you've read my work before you'll know I'm a recent California migrant, coming from the beautiful state of Alabama. As you'll also know I love my new home state more than anyone will ever understand until they find their own home state. Yes, moving to Los Angeles was a culture shock. I learned and adapted and I love the way of life in this huge city, and beautiful state. With the recent development of the #CALEXIT idea, I would like to say several things. First of all, I cannot be prouder to say this is my home state and I love they stand for everything I believe in. California has showed me the greater side of America's openness, in my opinion. With this being the development at hand, I will say I fully agree with California seceding from the union to create a nation it bases on the beliefs we set forward currently as a state.
