What I want you to know
I want you to know I don't care if you "don't like to talk politics". I bet our Black brothers and sisters would love the opportunity and privilege to not have to care or not have to talk about politics either, but this is a matter of life or death for them. I'm pretty sure they don't "like" having to fill the streets in protest of not having basic human rights, either. I want you to know it's time to pull your head out of the sand and participate no matter how much you don't like it.

The Protest
My plan today and tomorrow was to stay in my apartment. Do nothing but rest and get some things done. I work three jobs every day and do other little tasks for others in my life. I needed the rest. Give my body a chance to relax and not be stressed out. The only person I would today see is a man who wants to give me a massage. Since that's not going happen: food, wine and movies were my weekend plan. That's a single life. Please note: Not by choice.

Hidden In Plain Sight
We have a problem in The United States of America in regards to the inequality between genders. Most importantly, we have a more than 400-year old problem of racial tension between blacks and whites. I won't sugar-coat it with the politically correct terminology, but I won't be offensive about this issue either.

Change Is Here
It's Been A Long Time Coming The events that have taken place over the U.S., have been incredibly raw and painful but they were predictable and truly not shocking. I say this as a Black woman who was taught that "not every white person is bad, but you can't trust all of them." This wasn't something I was born into, I was taught that. I used to think that this was an outdated thought pattern that we as Black people carried and held onto for way too long. I then realized what we were taught wasn't coming from a present perspective but a 500 year old one. Our ancestors have been speaking through our DNA.

Justice for George Floyd: Voices From a Smaller Town
Today I made history. I travelled to the town of Milton Keynes on 6th June 2020 to make my voice heard in a Black Lives Matter peaceful protest. These protests have been taking place all over the world from 25th May 2020 when a black American man, George Floyd, was unlawfully killed by a white police officer in the United States. This is one of THOUSANDS of deaths and serious incidents caused by police brutality all over the world and quite frankly, black people have had enough.

These are people of color who were murdered by police recently. This list goes on. This list is just the people we know about. An Open Letter.
As a white person in today’s society I understand my privilege. I have never been afraid of what would happen to me if I was pulled over. My parents never had a conversation with me about what to say or do if I get into any kind of encounter with the police. I’ve never been minding my own business and get called a racial slur from a stranger. I’ve always felt safe in my own home. I can have a cellphone, sell CD’s, play loud music, read a book in my car, go for a walk with my grandfather, go for a run, walk home with skittles, shop at Walmart, fucking breathe. I can fucking live and it’s because I’m white.

We Should All Be Able to Understand Racism
It has always been apparent that my parents grew up in a different world to me. They both came from Hong Kong and emigrated to Australia over forty years ago: a whole different culture and time than the world in which I grew up. We don't often agree a lot on politics, particularly on social issues. My mum just can't wrap her head around homosexuality; she let out a small scream when she first saw a gay kiss on Glee that was playing on the TV. She often says things about other ethnic groups I have to call her out on as insensitive or not constructive.
