Starmer Hopes to Meet Trump.

Trump's Campaign Schedule Allowing.

Keir and Victoria Starmer.

Sir Keir Starmer after his keynote speech at the Labour Conference jetted off to the New York United Nations General Assembly. While there Sir Keir will be meeting with current US President Joe Biden. He will also meet Biden's heir apparent and potential POTUS Kamala Harris. A team from the Labour Party has already met Ms. Harris to endorse her. The Democrats are the US equivalent of the UK's Labour Party.

Whilst in New York, Sir Keir hopes to meet a man who could also be a potential President, Donald Trump. Speaking on the subject of meeting Harris and Trump, Sir Keir said: "It would be very good to meet them at some stage before the election. We will have to see what's possible".

Sir Keir will also be meeting Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy. With the UK's powerful missile 'Storm Shadow' in his arsenal, Zelenskyy of late, seems quite upbeat. It seems Zelenskyy sees victory over Russia on the horizon or at least some deal with Russia. Whether Zelenskyy will able to use the 'Storm Shadow' missile in Russia, is another thing. Firing such a dangerous missile into 'Vlad The Invader's' backyard carries risks. Any retaliation by Russia would be rapid and destructive. Putin also threatens the West and Ukraine with nuclear annihilation, but Putin always does. That's not to make light of Putin's words, but Putin knows that unleashing such weapons would also be the end of his country.

Also, on the agenda will be another war the current clash between Israel and its enemies. With Israel still fighting in Gaza and now clashing with Hezbollah Sir Keir will be meeting with world leaders on this issue too. Middle Eastern leaders have already made speeches. Most of them including the Iranian President, Turkish leader Erdogan, and King Abdullah II of Jordan, have already made fiery speeches. Most of them condemn Israel's actions. Turkish President Erdogan even went as far as to compare Netanyahu to Hitler. Saying an Alliance of Humanity stopped Adolf in his tracks, 70 years ago. An Alliance of Humanity must defeat another dictator, Benjamin Netanyahu.

So both conflicts are burning and need putting out. However, there does not seem an end as the wars rage on. Both wars seem incapable of a solution, both wars contain strong figures trying to prove something. Conflicts that are atypical of human conflict since we came out of caves munching on bananas.

Meanwhile, as Starmer hobnobs with fellow world leaders, he may welcome the break from domestic politics. Starmer faces the controversy (if you can call it that) about depriving the elderly of their winter fuel allowance. Opponents of this have perhaps misunderstood Starmer's plan. If you receive Pension Credit you will not lose your winter fuel allowance. However, if you are a well-off pensioner with a well-paying private pension, you will not receive the allowance. And, such OAPs have agreed they are well fortified financially so do not the winter fuel allowance.

Sir Keir has admitted many of Labour's policies will make him enemies. Starmer has said from the start, he will have to break some eggs, to make an omelette. In other words, to get to better days, we must go through hardship. However, not to be associated with Tory cuts, Rachel Reeves made it clear in her speech, that there would be no return to austerity.

Sir Keir is the first Labour Prime Minister since Gordon Brown. However, Sir Keir has been compared to Tony Blair. Like Blair, Starmer has a thumping majority but in actuality, it's bigger than the majority Blair had. Starmer has 5 years to steer the country in the right direction (whatever your definition of that is). Whether he will achieve that and carry the people with him, remains to be seen.
