Actor Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, have pledged to match a $1 million donation to the Ukrainian Jewish Encounter (UJE), a group that gives aid to displaced Ukrainians.
Reynolds and Lively made the announcement on Instagram Thursday night. The "Deadpool" star said he and his wife would match $1 million in donations to UJE.
"Tens of thousands of Ukrainians are fleeing their homes every day as Russia continues its invasion," Reynolds wrote on Instagram. "I'm proud to be partnering with @prizmah_org, @ukrainianjewishencounters and @nataliavodianova to support the resettling of displaced families."
Vodianova, a Russian-born supermodel, created both UJE and the Naked Heart Foundation. She is also an ambassador for Prizmah: Center for Jewish Day Schools.

The couple is matching donations of up to $1 million made to their GoFundMe page, which will benefit the International Rescue Committee (IRC), a global organization that helps people affected by war and conflict.
"I'm proud to support the IRC. Their mission — helping refugees affected by war and conflict — has never been more important," Reynolds said in a news release. "I'm thrilled to be able to help them continue this vital work."

Actor Ryan Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively, have announced that they will match a donation of $1 million to the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton and the Canadian Foodgrains Bank to help displaced people in Ukraine.
The donation is meant to support "the most vulnerable families affected by war and conflict."
"We are deeply grateful for their generosity," said Ray Rorison, executive director of the Canadian Foodgrains Bank, in a statement. "This matching gift will be transformative for our work in Ukraine."
Canada has provided more than $15 million to humanitarian organizations working in Ukraine since March 2014, according to a government press release announcing the donation.
"For more than 75 years, the IRC has been there for those who've run from violence," Reynolds said in a statement. "We feel honoured to join them in supporting the people of Ukraine."
"Ryan and I are donating $1 million to be split between the Ukrainian Jewish Relief Effort and the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals," Lively says in a statement.
The actress and entrepreneur, who is pregnant with the couple's third child, adds that she and Reynolds have been inspired by their daughters, 4-year-old James and 2-year-old Inez.
"Our daughters have Ukrainian heritage (through Ryan's grandmother) on their father's side, and we want to teach them about the importance of giving back."
In its statement, the charity People's Dispensary for Sick Animals explains it will use the donation to support an animal shelter in Mariupol. "Our partner organization International Aid Ukraine is well placed to help animals affected by conflict. They are already working in Mariupol to treat sick animals as part of their work with local communities," PDSA said.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated $1 million to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund on Friday, after promising on social media that for every dollar donated by their fans, they would match it.
"Black Lives Matter," the couple wrote in a joint statement posted to Instagram. "This isn't a controversial statement. Until the ingrained racism that allows our country's institutions to fail is universally acknowledged, there will be no change."
Reynolds and Lively said they were going to match donations up to $1 million, and they started with a donation of $200,000.
"The rise in hate crimes is deeply disturbing," they continued in their post. "We must take the time to uncover the roots of injustice in our society — and eradicate them."
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress announced Thursday that the Vancouver-born actor and his wife, Blake Lively, have agreed to match a donation of $1 million from James Temerty, the head of a Canadian charity that helps people affected by developments in Ukraine.
The money will be used to help some 3.2 million people who are facing food shortages and other hardships as a result of fighting between Russian-backed rebels and Ukrainian government forces.
Ukraine's ambassador to Canada, Vadym Prystaiko, called the couple's donation "a remarkable example of kindness, humanity and generosity."
"We are deeply grateful to Mr. Ryan Reynolds and Ms. Blake Lively for their support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people at this critical time," he said in a statement.
