Journalists are leaving top newspapers- some out of choice, and others, because their views no longer align. What once used to be straight forward profession is now a creative venture.
"My job as a journalist is to speak my truth," said Don Lemon recently. Remember, he's the CNN anchor from the "most trusted network in news." No Mr. Lemon, you literally have one job to do, that is, tell THE truth. But telling the truth these days will get you fired, and not the private kind where you silently sulk in the bathroom and later pack up your cubicle box to leave. The modern firing is done fully in public so the mob can sneer at the misfortune that dares to speak against their truth. We see it across the country, not only in newspapers, but in art galleries, book publishers, aviation, and really- anywhere. Go against the narrative and reap the consequences. "Shame! Shame! Shame!" The mob that cannot live up to it's own law shouts. I laughed at first, but realized later that they were not in fact kidding.
We see it on a more national scale with Robert Unanue, (CEO of Goya) ripped for his recent trip to the White House. Though it is largely overlooked that he visited Barack Obama's White House, it doesn't matter. That's not their truth, you see. What they fail to recognize is that the "Woke" will eventually eat their own. Keep upping the bar, and gradually, the intolerance will scale up- washing away all of those who dare not climb the "Woke" ladder.
Whether it be boycotts, public shaming, character assassination, or firing- does it actually do anything? I suppose it keeps those who'd step out of line fearful, but I haven't seen a lot of proof that companies go under. This is an opinion piece, (not a news story- not the difference Mr. Lemon) but my hypothesis is that "Woke" culture cannot sustain. It's only leverage is it's marxist culture forcing it's thoughts onto the rest of us. American's don't exactly like that. Experiment with the woke culture in sports at your own peril. Go ahead and put the do nothing multi millionaire Kaepernick as the thought leader of a brand. Fire journalists for doing their jobs. Stop curating artists based upon the color of their skin. Shame those who have the audacity to associate themselves with whomever they please. An experiment to destroy the country may very well be the result the "Woke" would hate to see. Pride comes before the fall.
Fear is one way to lead but it does not innovate. It does not build; it tears down. Fear is poverty and eventually the people will figure it out. The question then becomes when? Now is a great time for these fired outliers to build their own companies. The "Woke" won't let you curate an art gallery? Build your own. You're not willing to write stories that are blatantly false? Start your own network. Social media has kicked you off their team? Begin coding. A few prominent figures have recently spoken out on both ends of the political spectrum. These are cultural figures that are very much lacking on the conservative end, but what will be the consequence of attempting to silence brilliant minds? Perhaps they shall replace a narrative with the truth and do what Americans have always done; win.
Elon Musk, Kanye West, JK Rowling, all have one thing in common: they're billionaires in culture. The left owns the culture, but what if they didn't? What if the very thing they have pounded into the ground with their iron fist becomes a budding industry of creativity? An industry where people can say whatever the hell they want, hire whoever the hell they want to hire, and thrive because that's what we're here on this earth to do? We're at a crossroads. Go left and continue to destroy civilization. Go right and build a new renaissance. It's your choice.
