The Protest
My plan today and tomorrow was to stay in my apartment. Do nothing but rest and get some things done. I work three jobs every day and do other little tasks for others in my life. I needed the rest. Give my body a chance to relax and not be stressed out. The only person I would today see is a man who wants to give me a massage. Since that's not going happen: food, wine and movies were my weekend plan. That's a single life. Please note: Not by choice.

The Forgotten who Helped Forge a Nation
The living experiment of democracy known as the United States of America and it's baptism of fire, known as the "American Revolution", contines to live on in the minds and hearts of millions acorss America and the world. However, the historical narratives of the revolution and subsequent infancy of a nation are only beggining to transform as new generations are given the responsibility from the old to carry on the legacy of such notable people as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Alexander Hamilton. Yet this select few of people are, in reality, only the surface of much greater narratives which encompasses the story of America's creation. Stories and participants of the revolution, which have lived under the collossus-esc shadows of the "Founders". What of the African Americans which fought alongside their white bretheren on the field of battle? What of the women and native tribespeople? what did they stand to gain or lose through this conflict?

Hidden In Plain Sight
We have a problem in The United States of America in regards to the inequality between genders. Most importantly, we have a more than 400-year old problem of racial tension between blacks and whites. I won't sugar-coat it with the politically correct terminology, but I won't be offensive about this issue either.

Change Is Here
It's Been A Long Time Coming The events that have taken place over the U.S., have been incredibly raw and painful but they were predictable and truly not shocking. I say this as a Black woman who was taught that "not every white person is bad, but you can't trust all of them." This wasn't something I was born into, I was taught that. I used to think that this was an outdated thought pattern that we as Black people carried and held onto for way too long. I then realized what we were taught wasn't coming from a present perspective but a 500 year old one. Our ancestors have been speaking through our DNA.

Not Seeing The Same Things
It gets tiring sometimes. I began writing this at three in the morning. It might meander in places and seem emotive. It is an emotive time, a troubled time. There are stereotypes and expectations. There is reason and rhetoric. Most of all there is emotion, a lot of emotion. Black lives matter…as well is the appendage some seem to need to hear. For some, the eyes are rolling at seeing that three-word mantra. All lives matter don’t they? They do. They absolutely do but not all lives are equal. It is not always easy to explain or articulate racism.

Is Ireland Racist?
Once again, we are talking about racism. It’s difficult for me to comprehend why this is something that we still have to talk about, so late into history. For a people that think we are so intelligent, we continue to treat each other differently due to the colour of our skin.

Journeying through an ever changing world.
I'm so tired of the news. Aren't you? I know i'm not the only one who has gone as far as considering temporarily deleting SM during this time, and turning the TV off just for the sake of peace. Everyone is so opinionated and emotional right now, it's hard to feel like you're getting all the right facts. Everyone is either fighting over their opinions and what they feel to be "fact", or they're fighting just to be fighting.

Its 1989-1990 and the DC Police Department are having a hiring drive where they literally grabbed people from the bus stop. And this would later b e the beginning of a group of young black officers known as the dirty dozen. These officers were responsible for helping drug dealers.
