Denmark Leads the EU and World in Renewable Energy
Climate change has been changing the way the European Union looks at how its States are consuming energy. The planet is telling us that due to our dependency on fossil fuels, deforestation, livestock-farming, and other human activities, it is suffering. We are now seeing suffering water resources, rising sea levels, and weather phenomena. This global effect has called for mass action in order to reduce greenhouse gases and our dependence on fossil fuels. In order to provide the population with electricity, renewable sources have to be put in place at a rapid pace. With goals of lessening the use of dwindling sources by 2030, the EU has invested infrastructure changes, resources and research to increasing the use of renewable energy.

The Legacy of the Confederacy Part II
On May 19, 2017, a statue of Robert E. Lee, the military leader of the Confederate States of America, was removed from a public square in New Orleans a mere 152 years after the defeat of the Confederacy. The city workers tasked with removal wore bulletproof vests and masks to conceal their identities. Meanwhile, a congressional representative in Mississippi publicly threatened via Tweet that anyone who tried to remove Confederate memorials in his state should be “lynched.”

Welcome to your alternate universe, where up is down and down is hate. It would be ignorant of me to not touch on this particular subject, especially considering what's happening in the United States. From "building a wall" to the immigration ban, it seems that the theme for 2017 is white power. Where Democracy once reigned, some countries like Greece or Hungary are now reveling in what they call "nationalism" but we all know it by its old name: fascism. It is now seen as freedom of expression to be outwardly hateful to other human beings based solely on the fact that some people cannot accept the fact that the landscape of the world is now changing. Welcome to 2017, where the need for a Martin Luther King or Gandhi has never felt more needed than now...

Barron Trump Needs a Break
As someone who has not been the biggest fan of the current United States president, I get how easy it is to go after Donald Trump’s policies and really, his overall approach to the presidency as a whole. Perhaps one of the most shocking moments of his eight months in office—beyond his apparent support of neo-Nazis and white supremacists as a whole, it seems—is when he admitted that the job of president was far more difficult than he thought it would be. Let’s face it—excoriating Donald Trump for being the pompous, apparently bigoted politician that he is has become easy in no small part due to his unabated tweeting everything from the Saturday Night Live sketches he doesn’t like to policies he’s decided to implement via Twitter.

Dear Donald, How Are You Helping Americans?
Dear Donald, Since you've become president in January of 2017, you have turned our nation upside down. You have managed to destroy everything that Obama put into place and made our country a laughing stock. In your eyes, you obviously feel that you're one of the best presidents to lead America. We wore anti-Nazi "45" shirts. We were turned away from the doors of the convention center for our shirts. The guy said, "we have the right to refuse anybody from entering the rally," but we also heard him say, "yeah, not with those shirts."

Why This Weekend Is a Cry for Help
This past weekend has really pushed folks' limits on racial identity and racial hate. With the death of Heather Heyer and others being literally targeted by the white supremacist and neo-Nazis, you'd think those saying racism came about when Mr. Obama was president would wake the f**** up. Diamond. Upon hearing the word, many people think of it as a symbol of status, wealth, and love. However, what people are often unaware of is the bloodshed that accompanies the production of these gems. Through unethical practises, woman and children are tormented, workers are exploited, and the environment is degraded. When a diamond is produced in such a manner, it is considered a blood diamond, or a conflict diamond.

Dear Theresa, Do You Want to Go Nuclear?
Let's get a few things straight, right off the bat. I am from the US (specifically, New Jersey, organically raised to dislike our soon-to-be former governor and raised on Taylor ham). I already deal with a horrible, unfit, unprepared, irrational, chicken nugget looking creature that was somehow elected to lead this country. I have briefly entertained the notion of moving out of the country, probably just up to my friends in the Great White North (I do actually have friends there). But maybe, at one point, I would have considered that Great Britain might be a decent place to scope out as a new residence.

The Mounting Tempest
Hindsight is relative in proportion to events that have already occurred. That being said, with the transgressions that the Trump administration has done, many now wonder would the electoral college have voted for the one candidate who had the majority of Americans in his corner if they knew how the Trump Presidency is turning out to be? A historical turn of events would have taken place. It is so sad that today we use the word hindsight in terms relating to what has been going on ever since Trump took office.
