Dear President
Dear President Trump, America, my sweet America, you can be as hard as a lion wanting to be heard and feared and honored, but you can be loving and caring like a little puppy who loves its owner. You can be sour like lemons by making money more valuable than a human being’s life, but you can also be sweet like candy caring for the homeless people and at least giving people money to afford things that they can’t. America, you can make people say, “God Bless America” because they are thankful to be here and have a second chance in life and to have a better future for their kids. Yet you can make people say, “Why did I come here?" After a hard life a person lived and had before coming to you because they have not yet been paid respect for how hard they have worked here. America, you can make people happy you can make people sad, you can also make life easy, you can make life hard. But never forget you will always be in my heart.

Stop Using “Snowflake” As an Insult. Top Story - October 2017.
It is fun to turn around and use the insult intended for liberal progressives on the conservative base in an attempt to point out how poorly conservatives react to having their feelings hurt. The insult du jour in American political debate has become “snowflake.” When a White conservative reacts angrily to being called out on racism, it’s fun to make fun of his sensitivity and use the insult he just used on you because you are concerned with the plight of the poor. But next time that word is on the tip of your tongue, consider its origins and usage.

The Hypocrisy Argument
Why do all the good stories break when I'm on vacation? Back in 2012, I was in NYC when Katie Holmes fled from the Cult of Scientology. This year, I go to San Diego for some R&R, when The New York Times decides to go viral by publishing an expose on Harvey Weinstein. There had been rumors about him being a disgusting, horrible human being going back as far as I remembered but no one had ever leveled allegations on him so publicly before. The story had me on the edge of my seat; I read practically every article that I could on the story. And then I read the comment sections and that is where it got me to thinking about our current culture.

People get upset about nearly everything these days. Unless you live with your head under the sand, you've probably seen some of the latest social media fighting firsthand; the debate about whether to stand or kneel during the National Anthem, whether or not Trump is doing enough for Puerto Rico, and even whether or not Melania wore "appropriate" shoes to visit Texas after the hurricane. I don't know if it's because we just love having things to fight about or what, but the fact that every day brings a new social media debate is indesputable.

"Male Rape" Is Just Rape, Folks
I'm a feminist. It's a dirty word these days, so I figured I'd just get it out there. I'm not one of those so-called feminists that believes in the eradication of the male gender, or one that wants women to be better than men. I want true equality, equal sentencing for sex crimes, to be able to feel the same blissful ignorance a man feels walking down the street as opposed to the much more common for my gender feeling of, "Is the next man approaching me going to hurt me in some way?" and for fathers to be given just as many paternal rights as mothers. Our society judges everything based off of gender, and I hate it.

Dear Donald Trump
Dear Donald Trump, I have yet to call you President Trump. I won't. I did not vote for you and it has nothing to do with me being on welfare, or black, or Muslim, or gay, or a woman. It has A LOT to do with you wanting to build a wall with my tax money to keep out people I don't think should be kept from this country. It has A LOT to do with the fact you are more interested in repealing Obamacare to satisfy your hatred of the man than to benefit Americans. It has A LOT to do with the fact that you wanted to ban Muslims and Syrian refugees from coming into this country even legally or to visit family, just until you could "figure out" what the issue was. But despite my faith in my fellow Americans, you were voted in. At that point, I tried to just accept it. I wasn't one of those crying liberals, or protesting or anything like that, I just sat home and watched you on TV say the things that just made me cringe. I thought, "Well, maybe he just hasn't gotten it down yet." It has been nine months. There are no more excuses. If it took me nine months to learn my job at work, I would have been fired.
