Relationships and the Law
Relationships and the Law: There is a vast difference between allowing people to come together and forcing them to. One of the basic laws of physics—Newtonian version at least—says that to every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Legislation to force racial unity and integration will result in opposition. Having rules and an ambience that allows integration gradually over time will succeed naturally.

Trump's Deception
It is becoming more apparent today that if a person is poor or becomes so impoverished, you are more than likely doomed to a life of misery and desolation. No longer are their avenues of opportunity awaiting behind every door. Even with college degrees in today's society graduates are no longer guaranteed to land living wage jobs in their field of study. There is just not the availability of employment opportunities that even come close to even providing not only employment but living wages. This is one of the most depressing times still for all who need living wage jobs. When there still remains such a vacuum of employment opportunities it becomes a lesson in futility. We can go to any city in any part of the country and find multitudes that are so impoverished. In this day and age it is unconscionable that so many Americans are left so destitute. With Trump leading the way, he has made it possible to usher in deep cuts in our public services. Services that can make a difference so that our citizens won't go hungry, become homeless, or have their utilities cut off through no fault of their own.

Trump 2020
Write this down on your calendar: Donald Trump did NOT fly to Mar-A-Lago this past weekend. Instead, he ventured to Pennsylvania to hold a campaign rally for his 2020 re-election campaign. One year into his presidency, and Trump is already actively campaigning for another term.

Campaign to Presidency, Political Uncertainty Under Trump
In 2016 Donald Trump entered office as a newbie, with no previous political experience, but well versed in business and reality TV. A year later, as the President of the United States, he is widely labelled as a racist and many are already calling for his impeachment. Trump’s transition into politics has been far from smooth and is constantly populated with controversy.

Act First—Regret Later
Act first—think too late. Act in haste, repent at leisure. A well known saying but so many people ignore this advice, they just rush into “must do something” mode before they have all the information needed, let alone a coherent plan of what to do and then what to do next. I know people who, even if presented with researched information, will not bother to even look at it while pressuring other people into the first action that comes into their head. The result, if bad, is always the fault of the person who actually did the work, never the person pressuring them into action or the person agreeing to the action.

Unknown Unknowns
Let me get this straight. The American president and the North Korean dictator are going to sit down across from one another in May. Until then, North Korea promises no more missile launches or nuclear tests. If ever there was an example of a KNOWN UNKNOWN, this meeting will definitely be one of them.

Is California the New Confederacy?
The ICE storm cometh. President Trump is scheduled to visit California the week of March 12. Trump plans to view prototypes of the border wall while in San Diego. Last week U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions filed a lawsuit against the Sanctuary State of California over three state laws that the feds state obstructs federal immigration law. The media has called the immigration battle between California and the Federal government a showdown akin to a Civil War over polar opposite immigration policies.

Perpetual Poverty
Perpetual poverty is a person or family not being able to leave a life of poverty no matter what they do. You may think this is not possible or maybe you are in the same situation. I have lived in this state most my adult life, I have had many jobs with different pay and lived in a few different locations to try and fix it though it never works. Don't get me wrong there are always going to be those few times a year where you feel you have escaped it just to be slammed back to the mud a month or two later.

Should Teens Be Allowed to Buy a Firearm?
There has been some controversy lately about a young man who was denied a firearm sale from a chain retailer. He was approximately 20 years old, although the story changes as time goes on. He wanted to buy a Ruger .22 caliber rifle, and denied. He is now suing the retailer for age discrimination.

University Students on Gun Violence
Richmond, Virginia— Karen sat alone in front of a scaling glass wall, overlooking the heart of Virginia Commonwealth University’s campus. She cautiously warmed her hands with a cup of hot coffee. “You guys have no idea who you just sat down with,” she said, contently. “I graduated from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. I also went to Virginia Tech, where I survived a mass shooting in 2007.”
