I don't want to live through another Trump presidency.
Hasn't he done enough?
When I shared McSweeney's list of the damage that Trump has done, my uncle laughed at me.
I thought that the people who raised me taught me about integrity. I thought they believed that lying is wrong. My dad warned me about the sex offender's in my grandma's neighborhood, and warned me that it wasn't safe to walk alone.
When Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez cried because of the conditions in ICE prison camps, he laughed too.
I don't understand.
What were all those sermons about knowing someone by their fruit for? What about using discernment to identify the wolf in sheep's clothing?
It's not hard to see that Trump is the wolf. He didn't even bother to get an actual sheepskin. It's more akin to a dollar store mask--and it's in tatters.
Every time Donald Trump opens his mouth, he sparks more hate crimes.
He encourages bigotry, ignorance, and violence. He openly demeans his opponents--or anyone who doesn't fall in line with what he wants.
He even turned against Mike Pence, defending the people who said he should be hanged.
This is the opposite of everything I've ever been taught that we are supposed to stand for. This is the opposite of everything I've been taught that we are supposed to support.
How did this happen? I'm at a loss. It seems so clear to me when I look at the facts in front of me.
Trump took pride in "cutting red tape"--tape that was supposed to protect us. Because of his actions, food safety took a hit.
It's honestly overwhelming to look through the evidence of the damage he's done. Another Trump presidency is a threat to our health and safety--because he sees it as "red tape" to cut.
It's a threat to social security. Trump has no understanding of the consequences of his actions. He's proved that over, business after business, failure after failure, bankruptcy after bankruptcy.
How is this not clear?
I have my issues with Kamala. Israel is currently committing a genocide, and has been for decades. The US is currently sending billions of dollars to fund this, and she is in support of it.
Billions. To fund an unnecessary war that is creating an toxic, unlivable landscape. Israel is using weapons that have been banned under the Geneva convention, such as phosphorus gas. They are targeting the press and medics, which is also a war crime.
Even when you're at war, you don't target those who aren't fighting. You leave those who want to help or report on the situation alone.
Unless you want to control the narrative. Unless you don't want anyone to be able to heal.
Sending billions in aid to such an endeavor while your own citizens are increasingly struggling to afford food and housing is unconscionable.
The thing is, Harris actually has a conscience. Trump doesn't.
Harris has at least met with Palestinian advocates and expressed sympathy for their plight. Trump is all for violence--he's expressed the desire to punch the nuclear button, and he thinks Netanyahu is doing a great job.
How is this even a question? One candidate has shown herself to be competent, intelligent, and compassionate on a regular basis. The other has shown himself to be a bully and a fearmonger.
I'm not the only one struggling with this. There's a reason we have jokes about politics and family. Suicide rates are back up, and I'm really concerned about what will happen if Trump is elected again.
I keep seeing people say that they won't be threatened by another term, and I'm baffled. Another Trump presidency is a threat to health and safety for the entire nation. It's a threat to social security. It's a threat to our continued ability to vote.
When is enough, enough?
I don't want to go back to a president who lies every single day. Please, I'm begging. Some common decency.
I thought that's what we all wanted. I thought that was what we were supposed to stand for.
I don't know what to. Nothing I say means anything. People scoff at fact checking because they don't like being corrected, and Trump has popularized framing any opinion other than the one you want as "fake news."
If Trump is elected again, it might kill me.

Exactly! I was dumbfounded when Trump won back then. All I could think then was "How low have they fallen?" It was as if the USA had suddenly turned into one of those Banana Republics mocked by Hollywood movies! I hope this grave mistake is not committed again. And, when Nixon had its Watergate he was made accountable for his actions. But I don't see the same rules being applied to Trump.
See, that's the thing. All politicians are corrupted, in one way or another, in various degrees. I'm just so speechless looking at everything that has happened and is happening
