We are poised on the brink of a new US. Presidency. Where can we place our hopes, dreams and aspirations on a scale of 1-10.

What did it mean for Black people when Barack Obama became President. How did it affect the world and why do people still respect him and Michele today...

Barack Obama's election as the first Black President of the United States in 2008 was a monumental moment for Black people in America and around the world. It symbolized a significant step towards racial equality and inspired hope for a future where opportunities would be more accessible to all, regardless of race. For many, Obama's presidency was a giant leap towards the progress made since the civil rights movement and a shining moment towards limitless possibility for future generations.

Obama's presidency brought about tangible improvements in the lives of African Americans. His administration worked to reduce the unemployment rate among Black Americans, which had peaked at 16.8% in 2010, and saw a significant decline during his tenure. The Affordable Care Act also played a crucial role in reducing the uninsured rate among non-elderly African Americans by more than half. These efforts helped to address some of the systemic inequalities that had long plagued the Black community.

Globally, Obama's presidency had a profound impact. His election was seen as a symbol of America's potential for change and progress. He was widely respected and admired for his leadership, diplomacy, and efforts to improve international relations. His presidency helped to elevate America's image abroad, particularly in Europe and Africa, where he was seen as a positive force for change.

Today, both Barack and Michelle Obama continue to be respected figures. They are admired not only for their time in the White House but also for their ongoing contributions to society through their philanthropic efforts and advocacy for various causes. Despite recent rumors about their personal lives, they remain influential and beloved figures.

The legacy of Barack Obama's presidency is one of hope, progress, and the ongoing struggle for equality. His election and the achievements of his administration continue to inspire and motivate people around the world to strive for a better, more inclusive future.

The political scene since Obama left office

Since Obama left office, the political landscape in the United States has undergone significant changes. The most notable shift was the election of Donald Trump in 2016, which marked a stark contrast to Obama's presidency. Trump's administration was characterized by a more populist and nationalist approach, with policies that often sparked controversy and division. His tenure saw significant changes in immigration policy, tax reform, and deregulation, as well as a more confrontational stance on international trade and foreign relations.

The political climate became increasingly polarized, with deep divisions between Democrats and Republicans on key issues such as healthcare, climate change, and social justice. The Trump era also saw a rise in political activism and movements such as the Women's March and Black Lives Matter, which gained momentum in response to perceived injustices and inequalities.

In 2020, Joe Biden, who served as Vice President under Obama, was elected President. His administration has focused on addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, economic recovery, and restoring alliances with international partners. Biden's policies have aimed to reverse many of Trump's actions, particularly in areas like climate change, healthcare, and immigration.

Throughout these years, Barack and Michelle Obama have remained influential figures, often speaking out on important issues and supporting Democratic candidates. Their legacy continues to inspire many, and they are still respected for their contributions to society and their ongoing advocacy for various causes.

The political landscape since Obama left office has been marked by significant shifts, reflecting the evolving priorities and challenges faced by the United States. The country continues to grapple with issues of division and polarization, but aa always, it still shows resilience and a capacity for change.

Trump's new presidency and the general feelings of Americans and the world at large

Donald Trump's return to the presidency has stirred a mix of emotions both in the United States and globally. His inauguration is set to be a grand affair, with traditional ceremonies and a luncheon featuring cuisine from his home states.

In the U.S., opinions are deeply divided. Some Americans are excited about his return, hoping for a continuation of his previous policies, particularly on immigration and economic reform. However, others are apprehensive, fearing increased polarization and controversial executive actions. A recent survey shows that while a majority of Republicans express confidence in Trump's ability to handle key issues, Democrats remain largely skeptical.

Globally, reactions are equally varied. Some countries, particularly those with populist leaders, view Trump's presidency as an opportunity for stronger bilateral relations and a shift away from traditional diplomatic norms. However, many traditional allies are concerned about the potential for increased unpredictability in U.S. foreign policy and the impact on international stability.

Overall, Trump's presidency is seen as a significant shift in the political landscape, both domestically and internationally, with a mix of hope, concern, and uncertainty about what the future holds.

Will women actually get the chance at the presidency, are men afraid things will actually become better with a female at the helm?

Women have already made significant strides in politics, and it's only a matter of time before we see a woman in the highest office. The increasing number of women in Congress and other leadership positions is a milestone vision to this progress.

Men seem to have a stranglehold on the reins of the Presidency, afraid of the power which a woman can wield, are they? Things may actually get better, or is it more about the fear of change and the unknown. Change can be unsettling, but it's also necessary for growth and progress. When we embrace diversity and inclusion, we create a stronger, more sustaining society. So, here's to hoping for a future where everyone has an equal opportunity to lead and make a difference.

What if we invited Obama, Biden and Trump (along with a few of those fearless women) to sit at the table and make a plan for America's future?

Imagine the scene: Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Donald Trump, all seated at a grand table, ready to discuss America's future. The room would be filled with a mix of anticipation, tension, and perhaps a touch of humor. Each of them brings a unique perspective and set of experiences to the table.

Obama, with his calm demeanor and focus on unity, would likely emphasize the importance of addressing systemic inequalities and fostering international cooperation. Biden, with his extensive experience in government and his focus on empathy and recovery, would push for policies that support economic growth, healthcare, and climate action. Trump, with his bold and often controversial approach, would advocate for strong national security, economic deregulation, and a more assertive stance on international trade.

The women, not to be outdone, would offer some wise and sage ideas. Could we get Trump to listen, I am sure that the others would.

The conversation would be intense, with moments of agreement and disagreement. They would need to find common ground on key issues such as healthcare, the economy, and foreign policy. The world would watch closely, hoping for a collaborative effort that could bridge the deep divisions within the country.

While it might seem like a far-fetched scenario, the idea of these three leaders coming together to plan for America's future is a pipe dream. What miracle may we envision to the power of dialogue and the potential for finding solutions through collaboration. It would be a historic moment, one that could inspire hope and unity in a time of great uncertainty.

Absolute Genuine change often requires a balance of power and a sincere commitment to progress. When leaders prioritize the common good over personal gain, they can create policies that benefit everyone. It's about finding that delicate balance between ambition and altruism. The world has seen remarkable progress when leaders genuinely strive for positive change, and it's a reminder that true leadership is about serving others, not just holding power.

There can be change if only some were not so power hungry while others actually, genuinely reach for change.

I was just mentioning to a friend today, if Biden and Trump don't stop trying to outdo each other every criminal will be out on the street. My son was killed by a criminal they let out of prison on bond. I wish they would stop the foolishness and childishness and get down to business. I hope no other mother will be affected by their pardons. Great article. Nicely Done.

  • "Absolute Genuine change often requires a balance of power and a sincere commitment to progress." Now that is sooo true! Totally agree!

This piece really nails the whole political evolution thing! Change happens when leaders focus on the common good, not just power trips. Here's to hoping we see more of that kind of leadership in the future!

Oh to have Obama back… he wasn’t perfect which he knew and admitted which made him the great person he is. We need that calm cool collective mind once again

If these three were to do this, it would be one hell of a conversation. Good job.

  • Interesting question about inviting them all to dinner. Traditional media did leave room for us to listen and conversate with each other - but I wonder, what could have been achieved better?

Excellent, well-written article. Obama is such a decent man and implemented so many progressive wonderful things during his presidency. It was difficult to watch Trump reverse many of his acts merely because they were associated with the name 'Obama'. I seriously fear for our nation in the years to come. Though I have witnessed many men killed or harmed for political and religious reasons over the last 50-60 years, I don't think I've ever been so discouraged. On another note, if you've not seen "The Way I See It", a HBO documentary, you may want to consider giving it a go. It's based on Pete Souza's story. Souza was the official white house photographer for long years. He had remained silent from a political standpoint but then came out to write a book about Obama, upon which this documentary is based. It's both amazing and enlightening, validating what I already knew about the man.
