Get Off Your Whining Zombie Ass
What it takes for lasting political or social change.

Many young Americans take freedom as a given, and also see they have very little freedom, because all costs tend to rise beyond their means. In many ways there is less opportunity for satisfying work in the big, grand and decadent United States than there is in Ukraine. Ukraine is more like the U.S. after WW II. In 1950, there were lots and lots of jobs, plenty things needed doing, and there are more good jobs than people to fill them. And, at that time free education for millions of veterans. Now, in the U.S. there are always more people than there are good jobs. Most young Americans have not compared their lives to the lives of young Ukrainians. Perhaps they should. And then tens of thousands of young Americans should make a plan. And think about how to side-step the slave-owners, those people who attempt by every way possible to corral them, and beat them into submission. That is, the corporate CEOs, and the predatory demands of their own Federal and State governments. Young Ukrainians are practical and thrifty, and allow no one to corral them and beat them into submission.
I have no detailed solution to the current state of economic slavery in the United States, Europe and most of Asia. I know nothing will change until ten or twenty million young people with good jobs start talking about the problem, and encourage young geniuses of their generation to invent better forms of economics. This is not a job for the 50-, 60- or 70-year-olds. People of my generation and my parents generation fucked things up royally, and continue to do so. Don't look to my generation for good ideas. Young people should not trust their corporate leaders nor their political leaders. Most of the present leadership, as far as I can tell, completely supports slave economics, and sees slave economics as the only way for any civilization to work. Covid proved our governments want dependents. Not self-reliant people with free will.
Don't let their lack of imagination make you a sucker, and a perpetual slave. Other ways are possible. Those ways simply need to be invented and put into action. If you are a 20-year-old and want a goal in life, how about making this goal your life goal: The eradication of economical slavery within the next fifty years. This means major changes in how our governments and corporations operate. This also means a complete restructuring of the Communist Party of China. Without one bullet being shot. Without one dead body. All these changes can occur by the sheer force of human intellect and human will.
The 20th Century was the century of global mass murder, and bloody revolutions. The 21st Century can be the century of worthwhile social
and political change, without all the piles of dead bodies. The current generation must understand clearly: The piles of dead bodies of the last century were entirely unnecessary and entirely avoidable. Change by use of mass free will, and the force of moral human intellect can create long-lasting change with no piles of dead bodies. I stress this point, because across my entire lifetime, from 1957 to 2021, social and government leaders, and more than a few corporate leaders, have accepted piles of dead bodies as normal.
As an acceptable means to a glorious end. Well, the glorious end never arrived. Except for billions of dollars into the pockets of a handful of wealthy decision-makers. And selected government officials who made wars possible.
Do art, music, poetry and other literary works help with any of this? Does art serve any purpose in social and political change, in promoting social and political freedom? Maybe not. Certainly not in the form of propaganda art, that is, art made to push forward an agenda. Such propaganda art looks and sounds dated. and just plain stupid ten years later. Lasting art, truly valuable art pushes no agenda and is tied to no social or political cause. Not even the cause of eradicating economic slavery. Great art is about self-definition. Helping people define what is means to be human, and what it takes to stay human under difficult circumstances.
All the big changes I am talking about, put the burden squarely on the shoulders of people under the age of 40... all the big changes will have a burden of suffering. There may not be piles of dead bodies, but our current power-elite, and the young people who are being groomed to replace them, will not go quietly. There will be a fight. Many jobs will be lost. And more than a few major corporations may go out of business, leaving tens of thousands of people without jobs for five or ten years. Is that a reasonable price to pay for building a better and more sustainable civilization? Think about what it will take to remake the current Communist Party of China. That is no easy job. Think about what it will take to remake the federal government of the United States of America, and each of the States.
Back to the value of art. As music has helped maintain my sanity for the past fifty years; all forms of art can serve the same purpose in other people's lives.
Self-definitions which create lasting freedom for hundreds of millions of people, and create forms of economics without slaves, require many forms of art. As with musical inspiration, logical and deliberate thought will not get you there. More is needed. Algorithms will not get you there. The God Inside is essential. And millions more people need to listen to the God Inside if we wish to create lasting and meaningful change. The changes I am talking about are far greater than trendy changes people talk about with loud fervor: global warming, and many other truly insignificant social agendas. Eradicating global economic slavery is bigger, and more far reaching than all the current bullet points listed amongst the agendas of Liberal Democrats as well as the Conservative Republicans, and Independents of most flavors. This is a fight for human freedom as a major component of all future civilizations, freedom for all citizens. Not only the very, very wealthy citizens.
Good Lord! I do talk a streak once I get going! I am no Trotsky, Mao, or Fidel Castro. And no Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Paine, nor Thomas Jefferson.
I am inciting no overthrow of any government. I do hope to incite some brain-cells to leave the realm of the zombie apocalypse, and start doing something truly creative and worthwhile. As I said, all the changes I encourage require no dead bodies. If these social and political changes did require dead bodies, they would not be worth thinking about. This non-violent mandate is a huge difference between my form of political revolution, and most forms of revolution which preceded the 21st Century. Closer to Gandhi, than to Mao and Lyndon Baines Johnson.
If we learn nothing else, we should learn from history: killing millions of people does not create freedom. Any freedom gained is temporary, and usually gone within fifty years. And freedom purchased with piles of dead bodies is no freedom anyone should desire. That is not freedom at all. Freedom purchased with dead bodies sets a precedent for more and more and more dead bodies.
And becomes an excuse to kill people for no good reason at all. Like America bombing the fuck out of Vietnam, Cambodia and Iraq. As in Indonesia, where the leadership used the American example of stamping out communism, as an excuse to brutally kill thousands of farmers, and other non-communist citizens. Allowing a few men to seize control of the government and steal wealth and property from all their fellow citizens. ( As of this writing, those brutal leaders are still in power in Indonesia.)
When inventing a new form of civilization, one you will enjoy, one your children and grandchildren will enjoy, do not use any examples of political change from the 20th century. Invent something more creative and less violent.
If you do not invent something new, the current elite of the world will proceed with the old forms of economic slavery. There will be less and less freedom for 99.999% of the population of Earth. And what will that leave for your children and grandchildren?
