Dear POTUS Demotus

From a Canadian watching American politics like reality TV..

Second Place in Goodbye Donald Challenge

Dear former POTUS,

First off, I say this not with any personal animosity, more just as someone who watched a 4-year long television show with an antagonist that I hated with a passion. There's much I can critique about my view of your show: how there can be so much hot air in the head of one character, how you got such of possé of yes men that are willing to support your volatility despite the fact that you and the audience knew their characters are sure to get killed off through eventually, and how it has taken such an apocalyptic finale to bring any sort of reform to allow the protagonists to win. Am I saying I was rooting for democratics? Sure, that was no secret. But what I mean by protagonist is more the nation and its' sanctity. You have dragged a country through such a tumultuous plot line only to draw the moral of "serve only yourself". Was it worth it?

Season 2 is starting soon and as we get the recap of season 1 by means of policy-fixing, developing of new characters to replace the old, and scrambling to mend the hellfire that is the global pandemic, we remember the reason this show started at all. You sure know how to intrigue people to watch; you're quite the showman. You championed these promo commercials about The Wall, birth certificate frauds, bringing back manufacturing, eliminate waste spending in departments, all these campaigned in the efforts to Make America Great Again. Now I got to ask you, how are you feeling about the America series now? Is it finally getting good? The one thing you didn't expect is for the producers to write you off, eh?

But I want to inquire more about the motivations of season 1 and who better to ask than the main star. You made grandiose promises about how the show was going to go and in the end, be it budgetary restrictions or just logistical feasibility, these effects weren't able to be a part of it all. But we did get to see the inner workings of the main character. A man who will go to wits end to support people who support him until they do something he doesn't want, then it's game over. Even if the character was a crowd favourite, it was never about them, just about you. The backstory of your character is that you're a businessman, am I right? And that you come as the offspring of another businessman. Everyone knew this, they fleshed out your character really well. But then you ran for president. Why?

Because this letter could go for days, I want to just ask a few pressing questions as a humble fan of the show. Many decision you made during the show made you some powerful adversaries along the road. Adversaries that are not just personal to you, but to America, the protagonist. Some of these you didn't even seem to reflect on before doing, a specific scene being the Kurdish-Turkish wars. Why pull out of something that was helping your allies? Then we go on to the flipside and out comes the creation of strange bedfellows, Russia and North Korea, both countries with their own instabilities and not much to gain from in the long run. What did you want to happen if you were still in for season 2? And now closer to the end of the season, we have our show's newest characters, Biden and Harris. Were you really willing to live on if what you incited went more wrong than it already did? That your supporters are also the ones who lost in the end?

I've got to say, this show is superbly written not so much because I like the story, but because I like the intrigue: what's going to happen, where will we go, how does it end? Never have I seen such steadfast sidekicks, willing to pillage for their messiah. Never have I seen such a series of unfortunate events and been so excited. Kudos to you, Trump. But alas, we say goodbye and personally, good riddance.
