Ben Wallace: May Step Down.
Considering His Position.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace is the longest-serving person in this post. Mr. Wallace, an MP. for the North-West of England, is considering resigning. It is nothing to do, so sources say, with any friction with Rishi Sunak. But it may be to do with a proposed reshuffle of the cabinet.
This reshuffle is apparently taking place this autumn. So, Mr. Wallace, may see the writing on the wall and decide, it's time to go. Mr. Wallace was and is a long-time friend of ousted MP and former Prime Minister: Boris Johnson. Wallace, Himself, turned down a chance to run for Prime Minister.
If Sunak is going to sack Wallace or give him a job he may not want, that could be another reason, for him to consider his position. If Wallace does go he will also be leaving, it is speculated, his job as an MP too. Rumours are flying around that he is replacing Jens Stoltenburg, as Head of Nato.
Sunak, meanwhile it is thought, will reshuffle his cabinet in the autumn. It will be his final reshuffle as he faces up to the looming general election (May 2024, presumably). No doubt, Sunak, wants to have people in place who he considers are up to the challenge of governing the country up to the general election. No doubt, he will be waxing lyrical, about the wonderful achievements of his administration (I kid you not). And pointing to his time under Johnson when he arranged for the government to pay people's wages during lockdown. But he will not mention the blunder he made when he introduced 'Eat Out, to Help Out'. Which helped to spread the COVID virus even more.
People are not stupid and if they have any sense, they will not fall for Sunak's spin. The worry is though, that people today, are stupid. Despite years and years of oppression, many folks will still vote Tory. Some of these will be the poorest among us who have been hit harder by Tory policies. Some of them will vote Conservative because they believe they are the party to stem immigration/migration (illegal or legal). Others will vote Tory because they are elderly and believe they would be better off under the Tories. No doubt, Sunak will have things up his sleeve, to entice voters. However, don't fall for it, it is a honey trap and once the Tories are voted back in power, we are all at their mercy.
Wallace seems like a decent man, however, he was part of the regime of Johnson. Whether Wallace took part in illegal gatherings or not with Boris, he was still part of this wicked regime. As was Sunak, he promised to be open and transparent and be different to Johnson. If anything, Sunak's administration has proved to be just as corrupt, out of touch, and useless, as Johnson's was.
So if Wallace quits who will replace him? One name could be Tom Tugendhat who ran against Sunak in the leadership contest. Tugendhat has, like Wallace, the experience of being in the military. Anne-Marie Trevelyan could be another candidate for the post. Jeremy Quin is another name coming to the fore. Also, John Glen, (not the Apollo Astronaut of the same name!) Chief Secretary to The Treasury is another name in the frame.
Wallace will no doubt, take time, to consider his position. Whether he goes or not both as Defence Minister and as an MP, his time is up against the clock. Bearing in mind his time may be cut short as Defence Minister if Sunak reshuffles him into another cabinet post. That would then presumably trigger his resignation (if he has not resigned before). And see him stepping down as an MP. Also, if he remains in the post or does accept another job in Sunak's reshuffle his time could also be cut short. If Labour wins the next general election (as it looks like they may) then he will not be in the cabinet any more.
