"A Clash Between Barbarism and Civilization"

Or: I Don't Like Writing About Serious Issues, However...

"Hamas is coming." Demonstrators deface monument in Washington D.C.

We meet today at a crossroads of history. Our world is in upheaval. In the Middle East, Iran’s axis of terror confronts America, Israel and our Arab friends. This is not a clash of civilizations. It’s a clash between barbarism and civilization. It’s a clash between those who glorify death and those who sanctify life.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

I don't like writing about serious issues. Most of my articles here are reviews of comic books, movies, roleplaying games, and puff-poo subjects; rock bands, music videos, and similar nonsense. Cultural ephemera. However, here are a few observations I want to share.

1. The "individuals" who vandalized the monument above are not "peace demonstrators" or "anti-war activists." They're traitors. Did you get that? They're TRAITORS. They're agents of a hostile foreign power, namely Iran and their proxy armies. Hamas is a proxy army of Iran. So is Hezbollah. Some of these TRAITORS marched carrying the flag of the murderous ISIS cult, which the United States went to war against. (Have you ever seen the Nick Berg beheading video? That murder was carried out and recorded by ISIS.) As Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated, they're the "useful idiots of Iran."

2. These people are well beyond the point of just being an annoyance. They brazenly display the flags of Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad, and they carry banners celebrating the atrocities perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th. They glorify these recognized terrorist organizations which have been responsible for the murder of Americans. (Some 65 Americans were killed or taken hostage on October 7th of last year.) These people are dangerous. Do you get that? LET ME REPEAT: People with such a violent, radical ideology are a threat to you. They're a threat to me. They're a threat to this country. And, what are we doing while they hold such brazen, bold displays in the streets of America, and violate our laws? The answer should be obvious: NOTHING.

3. At the Watergate Hotel, they released maggots, mealworms, and crickets because Benjamin Netanyahu was staying there. They boasted of this on social media. Outside, they burned American and Israeli flags, marched with ISIS and Hezbollah flags, chanted "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel," vandalized monuments, assaulted police officers, etc. Yet, I just read that eleven of them have been released, having their charges dropped. We're now "nursing the snake," much in the same manner as Britain and France, by mollycoddling and treating these traitors with kid gloves. Time to take the gloves off. These people have made themselves a threat.

Anti-Bibi Protesters BURN USA Flag & PRAISE Hamas

4. The "Progressive Left" is lost. It no longer stands for freedom, human rights, political liberation, human dignity, etc. It simply vomits up hate for Western civilization and Western ideals, America, and Israel, and it's now embracing anti-Semitism, and Islamic radicalism in a noxious, sickening stew of propaganda. They lost me when, immediately following October 7th, even before Israel had even responded to the brutal (described by one commentator as "pre-civilizational") attacks by Hamas, they decided unbelievably that HAMAS were the actual victims. A complete inversion of reality.

5. The claim that Israel is committing "genocide" (however you define that term) in Gaza is FALSE. If anything, the IDF takes measures above and beyond what any other army would do to prevent civilian casualties, including the dropping of leaflets, telephone calls, and text messages, and the evacuation of civilians from areas of intense fighting, such as Rafah. Hamas embeds with their civilian population, as has been pointed out, using them as "human shields." Terror tunnels are found beneath schools, hospitals, and even places of worship. The Israeli Army goes to lengths no other army would go to, including our own, to minmimize civilian casualties. Claims of "genocide" are an inversion of reality.

6. The Israelis are in an existential crisis, fighting Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah rockets in Northern Israel, Houthis from Yemen, and the condemnation of much of the "free world." The attack of October 7th was, proportionally, a savage, massive blow that would be the equivalent of around seventeen 9/11s IN ONE DAY if it had happened here. Seventeen.

How, pray tell, do the Israel-haters expect they were going to respond? By sending Hamas wine and roses? Launching cookies and fudge bars at them? If Israel had NOT responded swiftly and brutally, Hamas would have perpetrated the October 7th attack repeatedly, as they've sworn to do. The Israelis rose to crush the head of the serpent. May they do so.

7. My ideology was, hitherto, generally pretty anarchic. I have flirted with such philosophies in the past that would seem to contravene everything written here. I see now that I was COMPLETELY wrong. I'm finding that my worldview is pro-American, pro-capitalist, and strictly pro-law and order. I'm an all-American Bubba who loves heavy metal, fast food, pictures of beautiful women, and thinks everyone having guns is a pretty good idea. At the end of the day, no matter what, this is still America, and this is and always will be the greatest country in the history of the world. Period. Full stop.

The above will anger many. That's fine. The "Woke" mob has shown their absurdity by embracing their polar opposite, a murderous, thuggish ideological movement the likes of which would drag humanity backward to the Seventh century. As Bibi Netanyahu observed, in Iran they hang gay people from cranes (they also throw them from rooftops) and beat women to death for not wearing their head coverings. The only commonality both the Progressive and radical Leftists and the Islamists have is a common hatred for America and Israel. However, the Marxists and Socialists will one day discover that "the enemy of my enemy is not actually my friend." After all, such an alliance did not work out very well for the student radicals in Iran after the Iranian Revolution took control. The student radicals, socialists, communists, and Marxists were rounded up, and imprisoned, and you can guess the rest, right?

In closing, I have gone on longer here than I intended to. Anyone may use any of this writing for any purpose. The demonstrators that marched in Washington yesterday will be satisfied with nothing less than collective Israeli suicide. To be clear: it is not "genocide" or mass killing they decry. They have no problem with such things, as long as it is Israelis doing the dying.

And according to Iran, Israel is the "Little Satan." Can you guess who they consider to be "Big Satan"?

Am Yisrael Chai!

We are IN a war between Islam and Western Civilisation. October 7th was the first shot fired in what will one day be remembered as WWIII if we survive it. The West needs to wake up and start fighting back before the Global Islamic Caliphate wins without a fight.

Amen, Tom! I try to stay clear of political issues on here, but this deserves a response. This repulsive behavior you describe goes well beyond Anti-War, Anti-Israel, or even Antisemitism. This represents vicious anti-American hate. Those who are engaging in or supporting these types of atrocious acts (and that includes many in the media, at Universities, derelict prosecutors, and even some in Congress) should be dealt with swiftly and harshly. If violators are in this Country on a Visa, revoke it and deport them. If they are attending a publicly-funded University, kick them out, and if the school does not comply, suspend the school's funding. We need prosecutors and leaders who believe in law and order, who actually support American principles and ideals, and who are willing to do their jobs. I am a staunch supporter of freedom of speech, but this does not fall under the umbrella of freedom of expression. These are brazen criminal acts of violence, hate, and even terrorism. The one thing I will disagree with you on is this: You mention that "everyone having guns is a pretty good idea." In principle, I agree with your position; however, with great rights come great responsibilities. Those who have failed to demonstrate gun responsibility or cannot pass a basic background check, those who are suffering from mental crises, and those with violent criminal pasts have no business carrying a firearm. Excellent article, Tom. I am sure it will touch a chord with some, but it needed to be said.

Well stated,Tom. The gays for Palestine? Bless their hearts. This is an era of uneducated educated, where degrees are only good for kindling. Which is good, because if they have their way we will need to burn wood for fuel. I returned to college when I was 55 to earn the degree I left behind in my teens. I could not believe what passed for intellect. I was a writing coach. My job was to read essays and reports and tell the little dears how wonderful they were, without pointing out spelling, punctuation, or grammar errors. The professors didn't want to stifle their creativity. This, what you have seen all Summer, is what we are left with when the educators refuse to educate.
