When Did I Realize My Anxiety Disorder?
Generalized anxiety may be the only disorder in which the saying "Think in such detail, you get hurt" occurs.
Not everything goes well in our lives all the time, and things that don't go well can cause havoc in our soul. As a result of what I have experienced in the last 4 years, this year made me realize that I had a psychological problem in myself. Thus, when I was only halfway through my 20s, I met with "generalized anxiety / delusional disorder".
Maybe you don't know me but I am one of them ...
If we need to explain it with a general definition, we can say that it is the problem experienced by people who constantly worry and anxiety in their lives. However, this is not the case. Worry and anxiety are of course part of our life, but for people with generalized anxiety disorder, this happens a little differently. The individual must first encounter an event or situation that will negatively affect their daily life. As a result of this situation, everything happens like a rope spiral.
Can ruin an entire day
An unfavorable situation can ruin an entire day. “Why did he do that? What did he mean by saying that? Does he really care about me? Where is it now? What time will he be back? What if not? I think the worst happened to me again! " Like many sentences are spilled by mouth. An evil that is experienced causes the thought of the worst things. The event is thought over many times and every step and word is examined in the finest detail. Mimics, tone of voice, movements are played in the mind over and over again. Regardless, there is an opinion that there is no good possibility.
Everything is Out of Control
Everything happened outside of his control. It has not been prevented, there is no possibility of going back and there is no good possibility as a result of the event. This situation increases anxiety and worry. At that time, one feels as if you ruined everything. I know myself because I live.
If you can create awareness in yourself, you can prevent this situation. You are trying to fill your mind with other activities or thoughts in order to reduce your anxiety and worry. You also suggest to yourself, “Everything may not be as I thought”… But unfortunately, common anxiety disorder (GAD for short) causes your daily life to get out of your control and your mood to be constantly depressed.
The effect can last very long
GAD can be very effective at times. I've noticed that the effect on myself lasts for 3 or 4 days at most. However, it is stated that the effect of some people who have this problem can last even 6 months. GAD can take effect almost every day. Generally, events such as human relations, family events, health, money and work have more impact.
It is not possible to understand the symptoms immediately
It took me about a year to understand the symptoms. Unfortunately, you cannot immediately understand whether you have GAD or not. It is as if you believe that this situation can be experienced by anyone. First, you become one of the people we call "extremely anxious" in our society. You can worry about anything and everything. You understand that your anxiety is excessive, but you are not aware of it. You cannot calm yourself down.
The first symptoms are feeling constantly tired, decreased level of attention, starving at the slightest noises, not being able to fall asleep or waking up frequently at night. However, physical symptoms such as headache, muscle pain, swallowing difficulties, tremors, sweating, intolerance, nausea, feeling dizzy or sudden hot / cold flashes can also occur.
The Real Problem Starts in Childhood
If you have had an extremely tiring, difficult adulthood, your rate of having this condition increases to 70 percent. Because anxiety is a very insidious disorder. It shows itself slowly. It progresses with age. It can start from childhood and shows its main effect in the 20s. It can also be hereditary, but this disorder is seen due to traumas experienced at an early age.
Raise Awareness
When I realized that I was under the influence of anxiety, I created an awareness for myself. The priority should be to acknowledge that your anxiety and anxiety are excessive. You should give yourself inner suggestions about the subject that you worry too much or worry about. "It's not what I thought." Or you might say “I think too much, I have to do another activity”. You should do activities that will relax your mind and distract you from the anxiety you feel at that moment. For example, you can draw a picture. You can read a book or clean the house.
I know all of this can be impossible at times, but you have to familiarize yourself. I tried to read a book over and over again, I couldn't. It was not possible to sort my mind, but I was not afraid. I chose to read it over and over again until I understood each sentence.
