The mind of a man is an ambidextrous being with an optimistic approach on one hand and pessimistic on the other. Undergoing the various phases of life while growing up, the mind of a man embodies a coin tossed up in the air, whirling around its surroundings to eventually fall on either side. Whilst the coin arbitrarily ends up being on either of its sides according to the will of its surrounding breeze, the mind has its own will and the ability to withstand the temptation its surroundings propose.
By the course of its preset expedition to explore the world, the mind perceives and preserves many things belonging to either segment. It meets people from all walks of life, perceives their situations, comprehends and realises the modus Operandi of the ever-revolving mundane existence of life.
One ‘hand’ of this ambidextrous being cherry-picks the positive, as well call it, moments of life. The optimistic approach held by this hand makes it sure to steer clear of any possible potential negative emotions to ensure resilience, if needed, by outweighing any pessimistic infiltration. Tranquillity, contentment and pleasure are its roots. And so are its weapons against the other hand. Therefore, it tries relentlessly to accumulate them for the purpose of rooting out the other segment of the mind. The optimistic approach of this segment tries to convince the mind as a whole that everything is positive on its own. It finds opportunity in every difficulty.
The other one, just can’t seem to resist the temptation of the pessimistic realm. Emptiness, despair and such emotions compel this hand to snuggle around them. Not being able to withstand it, this segment of the mind persists on drowning deep into the world of pessimism. As it is said, the negative aspect of something holds the power, more than the positive counterpart, to tempt and compel the mind to drown in the depths of the sea of adversity. Misfortune, despair and depression are its core elements. It blinds the vision of the man to make everything seem negative. When honed to the max, it empties the whole mind to nothingness and induces nihilism, the ideology of a meaningless world. The negative segment of the mind finds difficulty in every opportunity .
These two respective segments strive to achieve success by relentlessly adding to their potential to achieve absolute domination to throne the mind for themselves and drive it to their domain.
Negativity, or anything related to it, is often avoided by humans lest their lives derail from the path of success and a happy living. Reasonable as it may sound, this thought is filled with utmost absurdity. There is no scope of growth for anything unless there is room for one. Emptiness provides room for something to be built. The value of any possibly imaginable thing in this world, which is believed to be a positive one, cannot be realised until it is accompanied by a prior negative experience.
That is to say, I do not mean that one should intentionally reach out to negativity, if they can afford to steer clear of it, then they might as well do it. Nevertheless, what I seek to strike on is that negative things in this world are unavoidable. There wouldn’t be any peace valued as the same as its potential if there was eternal peace. One comprehends and realises the true significance of the positive things only when he has gone through the other side as well.
In order for one segment of the mind of a man to win, it must conquer the other one. That’s all.
