Life presents variables; learning how to cope in order to master, minimize, or tolerate what has come to pass.
A Doctor Drew an Eyeball on My Arm. Top Story - October 2024.
Everything happens at once, right? But everything also happens for a Reason, right? _____ *** Part I ***________ After not having any epileptic seizures for months, I had several Sunday-Monday, 10/5 & 10/6/2024. 😥 I loathe having my brain rebooted. It's awful. Until this week, I had thought I finally had these attacks under control, using my latest prescribed combination of meds. I had just recently published a poem about it here on Vocal—> ⚡ Brain Bursts ⚡

Words Matter - 5 Superpowers That Build Confidence, Character, and Courage in Relationships
You CAN do it! Love yourself first. It is vital, no, imperative, that you take care of your own needs; emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental. We get caught in a trap of being “nice”, so others will like us. Your body is an ecosystem in itself that needs balanced love and attention. When you do this, you contribute in a meaningful and loving way to others, that have their own ecosystem to take care of. It’s okay to say no when a part of you needs quiet time. It’s okay to ask for a hug when needed. Reciprocity is key to a sustainable relationship. It allows others to just be, without taking it personally, and powerfully, they will do the same for you. Be courageous: ask for what you want. Be clear and specific. When you honour your needs, you model behaviour that allows your friends and partners to foster theirs. We each have our own work. Know where the boundaries begin and end.

Surface Pressure That Just Won't Stop
Disney Has Changed The Way They Make Me Cry As a child, I cried over the death of Bambi's mom. I hyperventilated in fear as a 5-year-old watching Snow White for the first time, and she ran screaming through the dark forest after the huntsmen tried to take her heart. I cried when the curse was broken for the Beast and he discovered love. When Dumbo was abused and mistreated and separated from his mother I sobbed. I forced myself to watch it until the end (I am a childhood abuse survivor, this movie was very triggering for me in a lot of ways) and found relief in the ending. But I refuse ever to watch it again - and I haven't shown my daughters that movie OR Pinocchio. I know those movies would trigger me to this day.

Stop Shoulding On Me - 5 Tips To Keep Your Energy Safe
There are people walking the planet thinking that they know what is best for others. Shocking information! They are chronically giving unsolicited advice. They will decide on your career path and doing business the “right” way, aka their way, with no wiggle room for nuances and gaping discrepancies in values, and ethics. They will tell you how to fix your love life, relationships with your family, your career, and your health. There’s just one problem - NOBODY ASKED!

Frenemies - 5 Reasons To Let Go And Move On
Frenemies – 5 Reasons to Let Go and Move On Frenemies – (friends, lovers, co-workers) - we all have them to one degree or another. You know - the ones that basque in your success by association or steal an idea and then take credit for it in front of you. They can be sweet as sugar in your presence and tell a tale of lies and deceit when your back is turned for a millisecond. To move forward and be successful (I mean happiness), you must, must, must, rid these people from your repertoire of “friends” to create the magical space that will be your life experiences, your joy, and your newfound freedom.

Does city life contribute to psychosis?
Is life in the city contributing to psychosis in Denver? A study published this week in JAMA Psychiatry showed urban settings contributed to more acute cases of psychosis than rural areas. “We found that compared with rural neighborhoods, neighborhoods characterized by urbanicity and environmental exposure (i.e., air and noise pollution) were unilaterally associated with more severe psychotic symptoms, but that more severe depression and anxiety symptoms were specific to individuals residing in urban neighborhoods that also had high area deprivation (i.e., poor housing conditions, health outcomes, and socioeconomic disadvantage),” according to the study. “These findings remained significant after controlling for individual-level characteristics such as age, gender, race, ethnicity, education level, and household income.”

Digital narcissism: What it is and how to overcome it. AI-Generated.
Digital narcissism has become a prominent phenomenon in the context of social media and the internet, characterized by individuals seeking validation and attention through their online presence. This behavior often comes at the expense of real-life relationships and responsibilities, leading to a disconnect between one's online persona and actual self. The rise of digital narcissism is particularly noticeable among younger generations, such as Millennials (Generation Y) and Generation Z, who are deeply integrated into digital technology and social media platforms.
