Humiliation and Addiction -Joe’s Story
I talked to Joe on the phone. He first tells me that he has no experience in addiction. Then he starts to tell me about his best friend and his brother who did have trouble with addictions. Joe grew up as the youngest child and he did not do things that involved substances, he was afraid of everything. As he got older, he become very outgoing in his community, he liked to help people. He did not realize his brother had an addiction until he become an adult.

Personality as a Factor in Drug Abuse
One of the most important areas of research in drug addiction is personality. Although the evidence for the relationship between personality and substance abuse is mixed, some recent studies suggest a relationship. A study published in the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment suggests that a person's "drug-abusing style" may be linked to their dopamine levels. People who like to experiment and take risks tend to be more likely to use drugs.

Addiction VS Habits Are They The Same?
The web explains Addiction and Habits this way; A habit is a routine repeated regularly and tends to occur subconsciously. While we all have a few bad habits it's whether or not that habit negatively affects your relationships, work, or school that is usually the determining factor, and if that’s the case we now call it an "addiction."

Attitudes And Values Toward Drug Use
The question of drug use is a complex one. It involves many different variables. A majority of respondents believe that people who abuse drugs have weak willpower. However, a significant minority of people hold the opposite view and believe that they have the power to overcome their addictions. Regardless of which group you belong to, the attitudes and values toward drug use are pervasive. Some of these opinions are based on personal experience or cultural biases, while others are rooted in a deep-rooted belief that drug users are somehow deficient or defective.

Another Accidental Addict
Those were the words I said at the first NA meeting I ever attended when I was sixteen years old. Two years prior I had been involved in a horrible bike accident. I shattered most of my face, including my eye socket, cheek bone and nose. I received three hundred and fifty stitches across my forehead and up into my hair line, and twelve more to reattach my nose.

Behavioral Changes Caused By Drug Addiction
Behavioural changes caused by drug addiction can be quite distressing. Addicts may feel very guilty and may take their frustration out on family and friends. Their performance at work may also decrease. They may even become violent and abusive towards those close to them. They may also have a difficult time maintaining relationships with other people, and their family and friends will be constantly asking them to change their ways.

Marijuana
Era tells me a story about her husband Will and marijuana. Will had difficulty sleeping. They went to a sleeping center in 2017 to try to figure out the problem in Edmonds, WA. He did a sleep study with all the wires and everything. They found that he does not go into the stage of deep sleep. It made him tired all the time. It was difficult to concentrate for Will on anything Era would tell him. Will was complaining again that he could not sleep. Their son told him; he will find a little marijuana to help him sleep better, more deeply. Will said ok, smoked some marijuana then he went unconscious.
