My Greatest Fear

A Perspective For Halloween

Top Story - November 2024

Today is All Hallows Eve.

It is a day that is often associated with Ghouls, Ghosts, and Monsters.

Which brings us to the topic of Fear.

Through my Life I have Feared Many Things.

Most of them I've worked through.

Fear of Failure.

That is a One-Stop Destination "To" Failure.

Monsters and Devils.

I've seen Evil, and it does not Frighten me anymore.

Fear of Missing My Potential.

I discovered that as long as you Move Forward, you'll make your way there.

Fear of Attaining My Potential.

That was a bit tricky.

It is Subtle.

Hard to Understand.

Harder to Overcome.

Tied into a Lot of Self Doubt.

Self Hatred.

Feeling Unworthy.

Acting Unworthy.

Yes, I have had plenty of Failures in my own Actions.

Yet, over time, I've Sifted through these.

Figured out that Being Your Best is Alright.

It is often Needed.

These I've come to terms with.

I No Longer Fear them.

But it does Not mean I have No Fears.

In fact, it is "Human" to have Fear.

Everyone Does.

These days though, my Fear is Very Different.

I have Faith in myself.

I Know I can Overcome.

Difficulties.

Challenges.

Life.

I Will Persevere.

I Do Not Worry for Myself.

I Do Not even Fear My Own Death.

I've Faced the Specter, Ready to Collect.

I Decided to Live.

So what Brings Me Fear Today?

The Future.

Not my Personal Future though.

As I said, I will be Fine.

I Fear for the Future of Us All though.

There are a Lot of Problems in the World.

Many of them Seem to Grow.

Some were Small at First.

Today though, their Impact is Felt.

Quaking the Foundations of All Life.

What Happens when We Fail to Learn from History?

What Happens when We Fail to Understand how We are being Controlled to Our Detriment?

What Happens when Chaos and Destruction are left Unchecked?

What Happens if We Lose Hope?

Love?

Health?

Freedom?

What if we Stop Caring Altogether?

What if Everything becomes Lost?

These are the types of things that I Fear.

What makes it difficult is that these are Not in My Control.

Even if I Dedicate My Entire Being to Spreading Hope...

Love...

Health...

Freedom...

Knowledge...

Wisdom...

Understanding...

Creating a Better Future...

It still Requires "Others" to Accept.

I can Never Force Someone to Claim Hope...

Accept Love...

Improve their Health...

Break their Chains...

Accept Knowledge...

Learn Wisdom...

Decide to Understand...

Care about the Future...

All of these are Completely and Utterly Outside of my Control.

They Always Have Been.

They Always Will Be.

I could put Every Ounce of my Being into these Efforts and it could Accomplish Nothing.

Zero.

Indeed, it is possible that I am Too Late.

Perhaps there are No Chances Left.

Maybe I was Born in the Time of Doom.

However.

There is something Important to Understand about Fear.

Fear only has as much Power as we Give It.

But the Fear itself has No "Real" Power.

If you Give No Power to Fear, it is only a Thought.

An Idea.

Which Does Not Exist.

There is a Difference between "Having" a Fear, and "Giving Power" to a Fear.

Yes, I Have these Fears.

Yet, I Give them No Power.

They are Not Things I Must Accept.

Even "If" they were True, it Would Not Matter.

I Can Continue to Live a Good Life.

I Can Continue to Help Others.

I Can Continue to Spread Hope.

I Can Continue to Move Forward.

There is a Word that exists which means to Have Fear, yet Continue Forth Anyhow and Refuse to Give Power to that Fear.

Courage.

Courage is Not the "Lack" of Fear.

Courage is the "Choice" Not to Give Power to Fear.

This is the Key.

To Give Power...

To Refuse to Give Power...

These are a Choice.

Sometimes a Subconscious Choice that We do Not Question.

Yet a Choice Nonetheless.

This also Means that we can make a New Choice.

Today.

Now.

In this Moment.

Then from Every Moment Forward.

What will You Choose?

So honest and open. We all face fears and need to accept it is part of life. This line stood out for me: ‘What Happens when We Fail to Understand how We are being Controlled to Our Detriment?’ Congratulations

This is very powerful and optimistic, Cody. That's how I feel a lot of times as well, and I am worried about the future of the world.
