Mom - Me - I
I am a 27 year old woman who is just trying to get through life. At 10 years old, I lost my father to atherosclerosis; he was 39. It was a shock, to say the least. I got through it by eating out almost every day with my mother and living with my grandparents for a couple of months. I also never gave up on school, put myself into my work, friends, and movies. I loved movies!! Still do.

Things I Have Learned from Having Depression
Well let me tell you one thing I learned, it hits you kind of like a train. I mean there are people out there that have a buildup and can try and stop it before it gets worse. But when I mean hits you like a train, you could be really happy and be having a good time until BAM you are super sad, you feel like a bother and you can't keep your thoughts strait. The way I manage to help this is always text someone immediately and tell them that you need help. If they are busy do not let the thoughts of 'oh they don't care' seep into your mind because when that happens, you feel even worse. Just keep looking for someone to talk to. If everyone is busy with work or school, call the depression hotline. I will leave their number at the bottom, so if you ever need to talk to someone, even if you think it is stupid, they will listen.

Smashing the Glass
I often feel like people don't realize you're depressed unless there are obvious signs that you're crying out for help... like if you aren't partaking in self harm, substance abuse, isolating yourself... etc, that everything in your life must be completely fine and you've totally got your shit together.

Anxiety (and Others) in Teenagers
Teenagers have a very high rate of anxiety. It’s as simple as that. When you look at the numbers, around 80% of kids have a diagnosable anxiety disorder of some kind. That’s honestly a big deal, and those numbers nowadays are growing due to everyday things like school, pressure to get a job, and even their families at home.

What Is Mania?
Mania is an obvious bipolar 1 and 2 symptom although bipolar 2s are more the depressed sorts. Caffeine triggers mania for me, so I have to be careful with how much I have. Mania is brought on by mood swings towards a high mood swing. Hypomania means you have a less severe form of mania. Source. Hypomania means that you feel manic but not out of control manic. You can also be depressed and hypomanic at the same time, a state that is referred to as mixed. Mania makes you feel wired, high like you have lots of fraudulent energy, which then crashes into depression.

Living with Depression
Have you ever felt like nothing would happen if you just disappeared? Like you want to end everything, yet at the same time want to keep going just to see if everything will be alright in the end? Since the time I was 15 I was diagnosed with severe depression after finally telling my mom that her past husband had sexually assaulted me when I was only 7, had been self-harming for almost 2 years prior, and felt like everyone around me would have been better off without me. Maybe my family would have more money; maybe my grandparents wouldn't have had to raise me and my grandfather wouldn't have been so stressed about me before he died...I felt like asking for help would just make everyone believe I was looking for attention...My mom didn't want to hear about it saying that if I was so depressed I should go to a mental hospital. But that was just her way of saying she didn't care.

Addiction Has No Face
“You DO know you could be facing a felony heroin charge, right?” I nodded my head, handcuffed to a cold concrete bench as the officer talked to me. How did I end up here? It was December 23rd, 2017, and I was 17 years old, high, sitting in the booking area of the county jail mid-afternoon. Just 4 years prior I had been a straight-A student, an athlete, a babysitter, a loving sister and upstanding daughter. And here I was, facing a felony heroin charge staring at the bag of drugs and paraphernalia they had found in my bedroom just an hour before. I wish I could say that this story is made up, but it is my reality. My story is a long one, and the events leading up to this very moment are a tale for another time. However, I ask that you bear with me... I will explain addiction from an addict’s perspective.

Emotional Abuse Is Common, So Why Isn't It Taken Seriously?
And though these allegations were mostly met with an out pour of support, many people believe Chloe Dykstra was never abused at all. Even though she mentions sexual abuse as part of the torment her former partner put her through, most of the other allegations are emotional rather than physical. Many people seem to be under the assumption that since Chloe Dykstra was never hit, then she never actually experienced any abuse.
