As a human, you cannot be happy or sad all the time.

It's human nature that we go through emotional changes.

Sometimes due to environmental causes, sometimes due to interpersonal life challenges, and sometimes due to hormonal changes, we feel drained and low.

Not always, but most of the time what helps me in uplifting my mood when I go through such time.

#1. A bit of self-care

Self-care does not only serve your physical health or beauty. It has a direct link with mental health. I am not very dedicated to self-care, even though I know its importance.

Well, when I feel a bit drained and low, I watch self-care videos that intrigue my interest and push to it.

I don't follow a heavy self-care regime. A little bit of self-care serves well to me.

What do I do?

  • Face cleansing
  • Face icing. Especially in summer, it just gives an amazing vibe along with skin benefits.
  • Organic mani pedicure.
  • Oil my hair and take a shower.

This is enough for me. And being a Desi girl, this is the maximum that I can do.

I don't know, but it changes the mood by freshening up my mind. I feel calm and a bit relaxed.

#2. Preparing my favourite food

I am not a foodie person, nor do I like cooking. But preparing my favourite food for the first time makes me feel a little fun.

I unconsciously get into the fact that cooking makes me feel good.

However, it has not come to the conscious level yet. When I read or listen on social media, preparing your favourite food can make you feel better.

It hit me. Yes, this is what exactly happened to me. Oh, it's a universal fact.

I consciously accept that preparing my favourite food makes me feel a bit better because it shifts my mind.

#3. Art/painting something

Art is one of my favourite things in my life. I wanted to acquire it as a career, but my personal life challenges didn't let me.

However, I do art in my spare time. Sometimes I crave it. It leads me to another world.

It cut off the disturbing thought in my head.

Art therapy is beautiful, and it's also a universal fact.

There are many researches on this topic that people feel good while doing art.

This can be a long debate.

#4. Journaling

By Sixteen Miles Out on Unsplash

Usually writing down feelings or daily routine serves people well. I also believe that penning your emotions on paper can make you feel good.

I don't do that kind of journaling. I usually take a journal, make plans, and write down my achievements and strategies to improve.

Plan my month or years. Journal about my finances.

Write my thoughts in general, but don't pen down something personal because I am always low-key and want my stuff to me only, even if it's emotions, feelings, or thoughts. So, I am afraid of having my diary caught by my family; thinking of them reading it makes me feel awkward.

Though there is nothing that kind of personal, but I can't even share my feelings and perceptions of different things with anyone.

Final thoughts

This helps me a lot in shifting my mind, boosting my energy, and changing my mood. We humans are the same in terms of such things. Many things work equally for all. Because behind the scenes, human psychology remains the same.

I think these are the things that can help almost everyone. However, some things might depend on the internet. Such as, instead of art, it might be going outside for some people. Or instead of cooking, it might be home cleaning for some. Although there might be a bit of alteration, I believe the above can help you as well.
