Babbling After A Stressful Week!
It's Something We've All Done.
First of all, good news.
I'm back on Facebook and Instagram at last!
I guess that is something I can smile about now.
This week has been stressful. I have been on the go far too much, and it shows in the way I have been talking.
I tend to babble or get into a word salad when I am stressed - meaning I tend to talk in a language that is alien to everybody else, and I end up trying to talk about everything at once!
I'd say we have all done it, whether we have been in conversation with someone else, or by ourselves.
We decided to carpet our lounge differently. Instead of using a carpet, we have used some really fun carpet tiles that click together and are simple to lay.
If you have ever had children, you'll know what I am talking about.

These made my day, and we bought them from Temu.
They only required clicking together, and we used a small amount of carpet tape to secure them in awkward areas. My lounge is quite large, so although they are easy to fit it took a few days to get them in place. My floor curves into a bay window, so we have decided to laminate that area which is only small, as these are quite awkward to fit due to the funny shape of the floor by that window.
I have taken at least four weeks to finish decorating my lounge. I was ill for a month so I had to delay it and take breaks while recovering.
Our lounge was starting to look old, and the aged carpet was extremely worn, so we re-decorated from scratch which isn't easy when two grandchildren are constantly demanding your attention. However, I had fun fitting these, and my grandchildren decided it was going to be fun to play games on them!
At times, I became stressed. I did the main stripping of the walls, painting, and redecorating the chimney breast. I had to move some heavy furniture too because my husband is limited in being able to do that without pain.
That was when I started babbling!
I started talking to myself, and here is one sentence I wasn't aware of until my grandson came in laughing!
"Oh dear, creepy, bobbity spider dimpledunk. Look at the state of that corner?"
This wasn't the only thing I said.
I tried asking my husband to do something, and the words came out gobbeldy-gook!
I also found myself alone for a few hours and my words were worse, especially as I found myself talking to myself and saying many silly things.
I was tearing my hair out at the end of the day, and I asked my husband to pass me the 'cold freezer' instead of telling him I was going for a shower!
You are probably laughing at me, but you can laugh all you want! We have all been through phases where we have found ourselves stressed and babbling silly words.
Stress is often associated with mental health problems.
It is important to seek help if you feel unable to manage stress.
However, it isn't always about mental health problems. Sometimes we can be trying to work out something as simple as choosing what to wear and our brains won't let us, and we can feel stressed out.
It isn't all doom and gloom though.
I once made a jelly that didn't come out as intended and I stamped my feet in frustration. I felt a little stressed because I had made that jelly for a special occasion and yes,
I started babbling!
It was worth laughing about in the end.
Babbling to yourself when you are having a bad day can be good for you, though some people may feel that you have lost your mind.
You shouldn't feel ashamed of it though. In fact; it can put a little joy in your stressful day, especially when people repeat what you've just said and you can hear how it sounds.
Go ahead, I dare you to try it!
