Bars across the world are as diverse as their patrons; Dive bars, Speakeasies, Cocktail lounges, and bars that capitalize on short-lived trends too ridiculous to name.

Best Rooftop Bars in NYC. Top Story - June 2017.
Prior to my current job, I used to be a food critic for a number of publications. During my tenure as a critic, I would go to restaurants almost daily to either practice my reviews and do submissions, or actually do an assigned review.

The Best Bars in NYC for Summer
A quick glance at the clock tells you it's 5:45 pm. No one is responding to email requests or phone calls now, let's face facts, the rest of New York has probably already gone home. To hell with it, you're switching off your monitor. There's no issue or inquiry that might arise between now and the time it takes you to get to the elevator that can't possibly wait until tomorrow. Stepping outside you see the sun hangs low in the sky, that's nice – but more importantly, you need a drink. It's the only way the problems and predicaments of the last eight hours can be safely dealt with. Right, where to go...

10 Things I Learned from 30 Days of Not Drinking. Top Story - June 2017.
Mocktails will save your life. As a casual wine drinker (it's 5 o'clock somewhere), I had to immediately find a substitute beverage for my evenings and social events. Sparkling water became my go-to, either alone or with juices and fresh or frozen fruit (still served in a wine glass for old times' sake). La Croix and cranberry-apple is my staple, but don't forget about smoothies and any (virgin) summer cocktail. When out at the bars, soda water and a lime will keep anyone from asking you where your drink is.

Rise of the Mobile Wine Bar
We live in a wonderful age of accessible, affordable street food. Food trucks are mobile marvels of modern meal management from which hungry passersby can avail themselves of breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert from virtually any cuisine. With the number of options available having climbed steadily over the past several years, it seemed like time to look at food service areas to which less attention has been devoted. Trucks with beverages, particularly alcohol ones, as their main focus have been slower to propagate than their edibles-based brethren, though it seems that these itinerant drink stations are on the rise as well. After all, why go out to the bar when the bar can be brought to you? The following list of mobile bars touches locales all over the world where indulging your love of wine is as simple as stepping toward the curb.

Wine In Your Cocktails
Wine as a cocktail ingredient can often be difficult to use for a number of reasons. It’s challenging to find a delicate balance between the distinctive aromas and tannins of wine amongst other flavours. Sometimes wine can dry a drink out and dull the palate. I have struggled personally with trying to find new and exciting flavours that work in harmony with wine without the creation tasting like a twist on sangria. However there is an upside. With 67 wine producing countries in the world there is a boundless list of possibilities and flavour profiles to work with. Even the body and texture of wine can be used to create something special. It just takes a little patience, experimentation and understanding of flavour.

Best Nerdy Bars In the World
The world is full of great bars, bad bars, and even ridiculous bars, but very rarely do you encounter one of the best nerdy bars in the world. While there are many themed bars and restaurants in the world, the simple truth is that nerd culture and bar culture are often not things that overlap all that much. While most nerds do need a drink, do nerds need a whole bar catering to them?

Fern Bars Are Making A Comeback
Fern bars. If you're a Millennial, you probably have never heard of this kind of bar before. In fact, the idea of a fern bar probably has you thinking of some kind of weird vaporwave-themed venue that would make most older folks feel mildly uncomfortable.
