IN MY PRIDE FEELS
This compilation of music pulls from mostly modern hip-hop and rap and a majority BIPOC artists. During the month of pride it’s important to emphasize that pride has been and is dominated, narrative-wise and representatively, by white people. But pride was given to us when activists Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera -- both trans women of color -- first started the Stonewall riots of 1969.

Cheers to the Truth
When I saw this challenge, I was excited because I love music and felt I could create a great playlist, potentially even win a prize, but I didn’t know that I would in fact win, before I even submitted. Here I am writing with tears down my face because all these anthems I have listened to over the years have empowered me and wrapped me in a hug of acceptance I never knew I needed.

Lovely Music
Since the age of 7, while in 2nd grade. I began the long journey of trying to understand as to why I had similar feelings to other women as I did towards men. At the age of 13 realized it's because I'm bisexual. During which, I found music that helped me to understand that it was perfectly normal. Also that I'm not alone.

She & Her
Alison by Megan Lenius This was the first song that popped in my head when I thought about what I'd be listening to during Pride month. Through my other favorite LGBTQIA+ and allied artists, I decided to tell a story through songs about what led to the breakup shared in this song. The beginning, the middle, and the end of a relationship.

All Things Pride
Pride Month brings lots of emotions. Celebrations, pride parades, and lots of unabashedly queer love. Some community members are not ready to come out, or it's not safe for them to come out. This Pride Playlist is packed with emotions that capture the essence of living as an LGBTQIA+ individual. This month I’m celebrating queer artists and allies that celebrate all aspects of LGBTQIA+ life through sharing my playlist with you!

Pride - stand tall
Pride to me is standing up tall, puffing your chest out to the world and saying this is who I am. In a world that is ever changing. To think that the world has been around for billions of years, humans have been on earth about 200,000 years but the earliest form of writing has been around approximately 5000 years! It means that Queer people have existed for 200,000 years most likely but we just didn’t have a meaningful voice until 40 years ago since the 70s and that was just the springboard. There will have always been lgbt+ people in history but the narrative didn’t really begin until the Stonewall riots. Civil partnerships in the uk were only around from 2005 and then gay marriage was legalised in 2014. There’s 195 countries in the world and only 29 that allow same sex marriages. So a way to go yet. You only have to see a post from someone who is championing trans rights to then see the dozens of hateful comments underneath. Pride is essential as it’s our voice. If you are silenced or quietened down then you lose your voice and so eventually lose your rights. If we can show pride, fight for each other then our voices can be heard and we can fight for the other countries for better rights. Some countries people face death or prison if they have same sex intercourse and other countries where there are serious limitations to expressing yourself. Just for being you - you could be beaten up at the very least. Just recently Ali Fazeli Monfared was murdered by his cousins and half brother who murdered him for being gay. This was only in May 2021. He was hoping to exile to turkey and then travel on to Europe but he didn’t make it tragically. Pride is so much more than in a pre- Covid times going to pride, getting drunk and dancing to Britney Spears. It’s an essential way for people to express themselves and remind the world that there is a long way to go!

Proud To Be Free
Music is harmony expressed. For this challenge, I have compiled a list of songs that explore the nuances of the human condition. Seeing as how my name is considered androgynous, I chose to focus my playlist on songs that create a sense of unity, and on artists who revel in themselves, which ultimately challenges the divisive attitude that seeks to deny the individuals’ right to freedom of expression.

High School Prom
1. Music - Madonna Walking into senior prom ready to dance, honey! Who doesn't like Madonna? It's all about getting the party started. A little pre-workout, so to speak. It gets the blood going and by the time it gets into the middle of the song, you are totally groovy out. I LOVE it. Music really does bring people together, okurrr.
